If I may be so bold as to put myself forward Wink

Completed RtK 1 at 100/day
Finished the second KO book (555 kanji) in 11 days, and around a month to do both of them
Re-examined my SRS workflow (which turned out to be a Sherlock Holmes idea...cool!) and doubled/tripled my productivity, which is what let me do KO so fast

I'm planning on sitting JLPT 1 in December, approximately 9 months after I started studying Japanese from scratch (I'm also planning on passing obviously...). It's not quite the fabled 3 months (although now that I've done what I have, I think its physically possible) but it will have to do.

Just the 2nd book (555 kanji, ~1500 sentences) in 11 days not all of KO.

I did it with a lot of spare time (around 6 or 7 hours a day) and by using the SRS in a much more efficient manner.

Well, you were actually the person who inspired me to go through KO2001. I was very motivated by a few posts you made describing your progress with KO.

maybe i missed it, but how did you increase your productivity?

second, i'm wondering how your listening, writing, and speaking skills have developed?

Check out this thread: http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?p...9#pid64929

Essentially I moved from the typical SRS pattern of: review, break, review, break, review, break, add all your new cards

into

review, add, review, add, review, add

Simple change (and obvious), but huge boost in efficiency, and its worked for a number of other people since I posted about it.

Listening is pretty good, as I've got a good immersion environment going. The audio that comes with KO2001 also helped I think.

I don't practice writing or speaking (read: output) at all. I'll get back to you in about 6-9 months from now Wink By then it will either be coming to me naturally, or I will start to devote a concerted effort to practicing these skills.

I guess I should nominate bombpersons for being the first person (that any of us know of, I guess) to conceive of an IRC channel for community members to chat on. That belongs on the wall/hall.

i did the last 216 kanji in rtk1 all in one go and was able to recall 203 of them perfectly the next day when i reviewed them. that's gotta be some kind of record or something eh? if it's not, hats off to whoever beat me, you've got my vote for the hall of fame haha

as tae kim has a very good reputation on this forum and that his guide is frequently used as SRS material , indeed he makes into the list .

I have had the last 3 days off, and have watched about 15 hours of 子ずれ狼 in Japanese...does that count for Hall of heroes nomination?

I've got you beat. I was held in contempt in court for refusing to break immersion and speak English. Couldn't testify so now a drug lord is loose on the streets.

Hell, we're all heroes here. Hurrah for everyone!

like what ? longest immersion without a break ?
I dont mind adding people but the record must be clear enough to be an objective for somebody else . It s both an acknowledgment and a source of motivation for other people. If I hadn t already did RTK and KO2001 and unfortunately with a much slower pace , I certainely would have gone for blackmacros record. I have been EXTREMELY happy to read that my post about KO2001 gave him motivation in pulling off that feat . And I really hope he ll succeed in passing JPLT1 within 9 months even if it will make my records even more pitiful  When it s about improving yourself , there s nothing better than competition . There s no way I fail if he s able to succeed in december . That s the spirit. Is there something greater than pushing off the limit of someone and him doing the same for you ?

I d like to add immersion things but for those cases you must clearly state what you claim. Otherwise I think it s more like a personal milestone. Try to come up with a general title.

BTW didn t you or nestor pass JPLT 1 or 2 with a magnificient score or in a record time ? how many kanjis are you able to read or write ?

But you're from Sweden (i.e. you have magic language-learning midi-chlorians). So that doesn't count.

Edit: and, as we all know, being incredibly handsome helps.

I'd like to nominate Jim Breen as someone who has done a great service for the Japanese learning community. Not only is his site useful in and of itself, his EDICT/JMDICT/KANJIDICT dictionaries power so many other great resources (this site, Rikaichan, JapanesePod101, etc.). Providing the tools that really revolutionized studying Japanese via computers, and doing so free of charge, this guy is about as much of a hero as it gets.
