Looking for good books on the language

#1
みな、こにちは!

Well, I come with a question. Does anyone know any good books regarding the Japanese language's history, in particular interest to the writing and how it effected the Japanese culture (and vice versa)?

I ask this because I have to do a research paper on the history of the language (it was my choice of topic). I've looked around a bit and found some books, but I thought I would ask here, as I am sure there are many people on this site who probably have the same interest, and therefore would own a book or two on the language.

So, if you have any suggestions, I would definitely appreciate it.

ありがとございます。

Well, I found two books now, so that should be enough to at least get it started. But I probably need a few more sources.

As such, does anyone know any websites that would relate to the topic?
