I heard the same thing occurred in sound, i.e., babies can hear different phonetic features really well and can catch all phonemes of any language. But obviously adults can't hear foreign sounds without practice.

No that's not something generally Asian, some Chinese friends of mine also pointed out that Japanese people (girls in particular) often walk and stand like that. We did a small test, and yes they often do. I don't know if it might be genes or part of their whole 'cuteness/insecure/innocent' (throw in a big scarf around their neck, short skirt and knee-high stockings) look.

My theory of the pigeon toed walking is the constant running in high heels. Also, instead of walking heel to toe(in high heels), it's more of a trot. But I will never argue with bikinis and high heels at the beach. Welcome to Japan

how soon? how do they know? my baby cousin is always singing out of tune. But maybe that's cos he's 2.

Can't remember when we start losing the ability or where I heard that. But I wouldn't be surprised if there were sound scientific methods to measure babies' absolute pitch. They can't pronounce their mother tongues properly but it seems scientists know babies can hear all phonemes. Then again, I may be too gullible.

I've also read a similar story on an amateur musician's blog where he said he remembered his peers started losing absolute pitch.
