Anime and Manga are what got me into learning Japanese, but now that I'm learning it and can read manga without translations, I'm not as interesting as I used to be. Weird huh?

Same here I guess. My interest came from, among other things, games and anime. When I lived in Japan, I completely stopped to watch anime and I still don't. I read manga from time to time, but mostly for studying, I prefer reading Japanese light novels and I prefer to watch Japanese drama or game shows over anime.

I don't think it has to do with maturation, but over exposure. Just going to Akihabara two times in a week is enough to make someone puke when they see anime Wink. I've started to become more interested in anime again and I've been thinking about maybe watching something (still mainly for training) but my standards are way higher now... I can't stand the run in the mill anime's anymore, I need the quality stuff like Mushishi and Honey & Clover.

The excitement wore off huh. I used to be really into gaming/rpg's/anime and stuff (when I was like 16) but now it doesn't do much for me anymore. Now I rather struggle to watch and sit through an anime. I still haven't finished Full Metal Alchemist and am stuck at episode 8 or something, and that was more than 3 months ago... And I can't remember the last time I finished an RPG or played one...(oh I forgot, I played the new DQ on DS in bed last night hehe)

I think it crossed the line when those hugging pillows started showing up. Sadly that line was at the very first image.

I don't think a couple of posters or figures are that big a deal, but some of those rooms don't seem suitable for living in, there's that much stuff.

Over the top and most of them are full of ecchi posters...and I never understood figurines and collectibles. But it makes me want to look at anime art, draw, etc ^_^;

No. True otakus buy three of everything: one to keep sealed, one for personal use, and one to use as a bible when engaging in missionary work. Look up こなた買い in moedic.
I love you for this link <3

Haha. I do follow Danny Choo and find some of this stuff interesting.

I do have some anime/manga wallpapers on my computer and occasionally I'll come across a figure on his blog or J-Box that makes me go "hmm... that's kinda cool" but when I see the price I say "f that!"

At this point in time all I got is my computer wallpapers and my anime DVD collection (which is tiny... consisting of 5 different shows) in my room

I can say, though, that my room will never ever look like that.

Not that I have anything against people that collect stuff like that. If I were to walk into a room like that I would probably go hmm and not be bothered by it

I think there are bigger problems for those people to bring girls home than just their room decor.

Unless that girl happens to be an otaku as well...

I don't think there are too many hardcore otaku couples out there. The girls seem too obsessed with yaoi doujinshi and the boys too much with 2d women.

haha the storm trooper with the 団長 armband is great!

If you remove the figurines, the ecchiness and random グッズ those are my dream rooms... I like the piles of manga and some of those posters.

I thought about the same らき☆すた episode when I read Jarvik's post. I think I'm on my way to otakuness Tongue

No. But I do have quite some pokemon, Digimon and Dragonball (mostly Pokemon and Dragon Ball) figures from my childhood. I have them exposed because I still like those series and because I have no other place to put them lol.

Oh, I also have some FMA stuff, mangas and figures and I bought 2 huge Yu gi oh dragons because they were really cool and cheap.

When I was 15 and 16 I bought those FMA stuff and even some dragon ball stuff too. Now I really regret it. I try to watch anime once in a while, but I can't, some have so many episodes that I lose my patience.

Oh nostalgia, playing pokemon, sailor moon and dragon ball at elementary school was so funny...xD

It's true, anyone who wears a storm trooper costume whilst simultaneously using 4 apple computers is defintely a character. The costume I can understand, but owning 4 apples is just incomprehensible.

Haha! Same here dude.

Yep. Danny Choo, the storm trooper who wears a brigade leader armband and uses 4 apple computers at the same time is the same guy in this video. Smile
