Getting stories to appear on anki answers

#1
I swear I searched for this!! Sorry, it seems bound to be a repeat.

In my anki deck I have chosen "edit item" and entered the story in the story field for a bunch of cards. But when these cards come up in my reviews, the story doesn't come up - just the kanji, the heisig number and stroke count.

Is there a way to get this going? If not, is there some practical use for the "story" field in anki that I could be taking advantage of?

Thanks heaps everyone for your time!

You probably have to add the story to your current model. I thinks it's something like deck properties -> edit -> card templates.

You enter whatever the field you want to add the same way the other fields are entered. Ex. %(story)s

Wow quick, thanks - but I don't quite get it... I have a "story" field set up, and I've entered the info into it for a series of cards. Do I need to do something to I dunno, activate this field so it will actually appear during reviews?
At the moment it's just this passive thing that I can only view when I'm actually in the editing mode... hmmm

Edit the card model (Tools, Deck Properties, Models Tab, Click the 'heisig' or whatever model and press edit), and then go to the Card Templates tab and add %(story)s into the answer box. That should work, I think! Anki does confuse me sometimes, but it's fairly editable which I like.

Now to find an easy way to pull all my stories outta the RTK site. Back to the search function....
