I was thinking of buying both volumes after I finish TaeKim but I still have a few lingering questions. Does the the book come with the audio CD or is that suppose to be the e-audio CD? Also is the e-audio CD the exact same audio for the sentences in the book? My last question is, is there any way to extract the audio from the CD and place it into Anki.

Does the the book come with the audio CD.
-> No, just the ebook.
Also is the e-audio CD the exact same audio for the sentences in the book
-> Yes, in mp3 format and numbered I believe.
is there any way to extract the audio from the CD and place it into Anki.
-> Yes, you can just copy the audio off. The link bombpersons gave links to a script to do this for you.

Irregardless I'm still buying the book and the audio cd. I still can't find the link to the audio bombpersons or travis mentioned, is it on the first page?
My next question is it really easy to extract the audio mp3 from the cd? Because it might seem like a tad bit more work but if you can point me in the direction to audio in above forementioned link it would save time.

In the first page, click on "Get the Anki deck now".

I only have the book, not the ebook. From what I understand from other posts is that the audio is just MP3 format and numbered to match the sentences and each MP3 is a separate sentence. So yes it's easy to manually add the audio to the sentences.
Unless you have a specific reason for wanting the book version, rather just get the ebook and use the Google spreadsheet to create a deck for yourself. That script I mentioned looks like it just creates a deck from the images but doesn't do audio, so probably not very useful anyway.

Once you have access to the spreadsheet and want an easy way to add audio (and can't do it yourself), let me know. As opposed to adding an audio file to every single card one at a time, its better to edit the spreadsheet with a formula so that it specifies the filename for each mp3 file. That way, you can just copy all 5000 ish files directly into the .media folder all at once.

That's not a bad addition to the spreadsheet.

Yeah I did it for my personal spreadsheet but google docs doesn't let me paste 3000 odd lines at once so I haven't updated the main one.
While I'm at it, does anyone have problems importing the whole spreadsheet? I get import errors. I found it its because one of the cells (the 'meaning' field) seems to have quotemarks around it, which screws up the importing.

So can you tell me how to attach the mp3 files using this method. Just realize I'm not quite tech savy so bare with me.

So this has probably been covered before, but I just finished RTK, and I'm just starting on KO2001. I already know a decent amount of kanji, but my vocab isn't too great.
Do you guys reccommend failing the card if I don't know all the words in the sentence, or just the blue kanji that I'm learning?
It seems I would probably consistently fail and burn out if I tried to know every word in every sentence (there's a few kanji that are in the sentences that I don't recognize in the first 50 kanji), but at the same time, it might help build my vocabulary...

1) Learn only the target kanji. Eventually you will come across the readings of the other kanji. I got sick of this because I hated not being able to read the sentence as a whole.
2) If you choose to learn every word in the sentence you have a few ways of doing it.
a)One is to just go through and keep failing your cards until you remember everything. If you do this it will be very difficult to begin with, but by kanji ~200 or so you will find that your hard work has paid off and sentences will only have a few new words.
b)Another way is, in the beginning, split each sentence into multiple cards. On each card highlight or colour a different kanji to concentrate on. Pass the card if you can read the kanji, fail it if you can't. This makes it much easier to deal with the lots of new kanji you encounter in the beginning. It does generate more reviews, but the reviews are easier because you have minimised the amount of information you test in each card so it balances out.
Personally I did b) and then gradually transitioned to a) because around 200 kanji it quit being so difficult.
Either way you choose to go, I think choosing to learn every word in a sentence will leave you better off in the end. This is because they include words in sentences that you will never learn as the target "blue" compound. For example they use 洪水 quite a lot in the latter half of the books, but that word isn't introduced in either the 洪 or 水 section (and even if I'm wrong with this specific example - I didn't actually check - there are definitely lots of words that are never learned as "blue" compounds).

Oh wow, b) seems like the best option, hands down. That's definitely what I'm going to do. I have no problem with large amounts of reviews in a day, and I'm sure that once it all sinks in and they become very mature, it won't matter anymore. That, and I can delete cards.

Wow, I will definately take to heart many of the suggestions made here. I am almost done with RTK, and I've bought the KO2001 series in anticipation of this. However, I can't wait until finishing RTK to start it. I'm confused though...the ebook lists all the readings in the reference section. Do I learn the "main reading" or all the readings possible for each kanji? Learning the main reading seems to been the logical path, but I am afraid of the knowledge gaps if I don't learn all the possible readings. How have you all structured your reviews of the KO2001 readings? More anki I presume? Sorry if this doesn't make any sense, and sorry if this is derailing the topic too much!

main readings to start. You want to gain a large base of voc asap, which is what KO is good for. You dont need to be a super master of all the possible reading of a particular kanji to start off with.
