No, not just the nose -- that's a gross oversimplification. What people are talking about is why a man with so much obvious talent would, voluntarily, mutilate his own appearance to the point that he became a caricature. it's slightly pathetic . The sudden surge in the sales of his albums in the wake of his death is even more pathethic. C'mon if you loved his music you didn't have to wait up his death to buy his albums . And if you were not so much in love with it I don't see the point of buying it now. while the guy was a financial wreck there is this splash of cash the very moment he doesn't it anymore.

I tend to agree, and it is in fact a circus. The news cycle got a gift, since the Iranian demonstrations seem to have cooled off, Mr. Kim hasn't attacked Hawaii, and the financial system seems to have shed itself of immediate systemic risk.

Obviously. But damaged by the father, or damaged by so much success, so much money, and so many sycophants? Or by a combination of all of the above. I suspect few of us, very few, would escape an environment in which we had almost unlimited funds, and all the people around us where constantly telling us that we were a kind of god, psychologically unscathed.

Micheal wasn't the first, and he won't be the last.

I want to add here that I really was inclined to like the guy. He was a showman extraordinaire, and seemed like a pretty nice fellow. But to look at what he was doing to himself made even people who were inclined to like him cringe. Obviously, there was an inner Michael that none of us can claim to know.

The cleft chin was an example that he was obviously into getting his looks changed.

I don't know anything about the diseases he was diagnosed with, but having an immune system disease doesn't sound good for undertaking multiple surgeries. His body may not have been able to heal like a normal person.

Though I think he was great at one point (I remember in the UK when we had 4 (or maybe 3) TV channels a big event where they had a midnight première of Thriller and it was all over the news/ papers) but he did change his music style and that turned a lot of people off. I think that his weirdness and problems with child abuse allegations did cause his to go a bit loopy, but with someone so famous and rich its hard to know if they were true or people were after his money.

To me he feels like Elvis - in another era and not very relevant to today. Like someone posted Bad was my turn off point, MJ as a tough guy? MMmm I think not. But the vid for 'they way you make me feel' (I think thats the name) where he chased a woman down an alley just creeped me out and that was the real death for me. His groin grabbing was kinda weird too and so was the shirt ripping off. I think because he was kinda child like but in a mans body it all felt very strange. Bleh, creepy.

Still its sad hes dead. He was obviously in pain (physically too) and the pain killing addiction was well known, but with all his friends help its sad he couldn't get off them.

Maybe he made stupid things (on his appearance and other doings), but it looks like he didn't live an easy life. Thinking that wicked didn't come easily, just my opinion.
He was a special singer though, nobody can deny it, RIP.

I was really hoping that it would turn out his death was staged, and that halfway through the memorial service the lights would dim and smoke would start pouring out onto the stage with that spooky voiceover guy doing his thing, and then all of a sudden MJ pops out of his gold-plated coffin in full zombie makeup and kicks off his comeback tour with the most elaborately setup rendition of Thriller ever.

Far-fetched, I know, but it would have been awesome.

Some people liked him some people don't. Personally I liked the artist, and I wouldn't trust the news media with my life. I'm not a fan though.

You know something real when you hear it, or you eat it, or you read it, and so in. Michael Jackson was genuine. It's a loss, yes, but what isn't it. He had his time, other artists will replace him. Things change..

He paid the parents to drop the charges when damning evidence was provided. If he were a 50 year old balding fat working man, he would have spent the majority of his life in prison and reviled as a sicko. He was a good singer and dancer so he gets a free pass. Even my Japanese girlfriend loves him and watches every news clip with star-stuck eyes. Maybe Japanese people in general give men a break for being 変体 as just part of their nature. He was a very talented man. I wouldn't have let within 100 meters of my children.

you must be referring to '93, when there was NO damning evidence. Rather, Michael said this to his legal team: "Will justice be served if I go to trial? Will these false charges be defeated?" Of course, it's the legal system. No one is guaranteed anything, especially with Michael having undergone "trial by media", which was so ridiculously biased and unfair it's almost laughably pathetic. so Michael did out of court settlement - he didn't want to risk going to trial if he had a chance of losing. Guess what, you may not admit it, but I"d say 90% of ppl would do the same.

In the '05 trial, there was no payments. He went to trial, and as the jurors later said, there was NO damning evidence, NO indication that he was actually guilty. And they also noted the history of fraud from the Arvizo family, as well as the bizarre, "wacko" behaviour of Jane Arvizo, mother of the accuser. she "clicked her fingers at us", as the jury recalled, and made racist remarks against blacks, to the all-white jury.

So, the end result? Michael is innocent, and he was Vindicated on June 13th, 2005, as was to be expected because the fans knew all along the truth of the ridiculous nature of the allegations. the accuser and his mother had a history of FRAUD, and both were "wackos", as the media loves to use that term. Of course, the media can convince people of anything, so they did a trial by media and found him guilty, but unfortunately for the media, the american legal system found him innocent.

There is no one I would trust more with children than Michael. In fact, I would never trust anyone in this world with my children except my own family, and Michael Jackson.
