A couple of years ago I was at the checkout of a local health food store where I live in Florida. The cashier, a young girl, was writing hiragana on a notepad, which started a conversation. A minute later my wife and the cashier were chatting away in Japanese. It was Emily aka applemilk. At 16, she could speak Japanese quite well, if not fluently, which is impressive. It was humbling to me, and she became an inspiration to get my butt in gear. Anyway, to me, she's a friend and a young person trying to figure out life.

I had never heard of this emily / applemilk before reading this thread. I spent a couple of minutes googling this person. I wish I hadn't.

Well, to be fair, shouldn't the links provided be Japanese links? It's easy for most of us to find a good link about Japanese in English. What's your favorite Japanese site (not site about Japanese, but a site that's in Japanese)?

It was nice to revisit this thread. The sites recommended are still solid. Ignore the AppleMilk discussion and add some more recommendations.
