"Ditto.. wish the Kanji had furigana"
It took me a while to get the pun. XD
Last night I read up to「空き●部屋国の衣装ダンス町」. :3 I got ナルニア国物語七冊 for Christmas. This is my first step into books for Japanese people isntead of books for people studying Japanese. Though all the books I got are written veritcally and it really slows me down. (And I'm not that bad reading vertically. :O)
I found it funny they use プリン instead of turkish delight.

Reached 13K vocab!
It's really dawning on me how seriously insane people are for wanting to start learning a language in the first place. Having to cram 30K words into your head is not a simple feat.
Still, getting there, slowly but surely!

I finished reading キノの旅 second chapter without using the dictionary (I used it for the first chapter). For those of you considering doing something like this: it's much easier than you think, I regret not doing it sooner.

Finally after finishing RTK at the end of November, I've gotten the reviews down enough that I can start with Core2k/6k. I lapsed during the holidays, getting up to 400-ish reviews piled up, but they were dealt with once I finally decided to do so. RTK reviews seem to be fairly constant at 40ish per day, but that's only two sessions or so, and I do multiple during the work day.
I've switched from iAnki to AnkiMobile for my SRS needs, as iAnki doesn't do audio, and the Core deck I have is all about the audio!

Just passed 1000 words in my vocab deck. Doesn't sound like much compared to some on here, but learning in default core 2000 order means I now know the 1000 most frequent words, and can now understand simple song lyrics and kids books.
Really feel I can become fluent now, but it's going to take a while..

Yay!
I am days away from having all of the Kanji entered on the site here!
This is my second runthrough and making sure I don't fail at keeping up this time so I've taken it slower.
I have over 1,000 cards in the 4+ pile ( 1903 kanji entered overall )
I am a page and a half from seeding to start a new notebook for my kanji quizzing! I love having books filled with my writing ( even if some is random characters from learning nad quizzing )
Next few days I should be hitting 10k reviews on the site here too ( this go around anyways )
Soon back to REAL Japanese, haha

I know it's a controversial thing to say... but lately I feel I can say I'm fluent in Japanese and mean it.
I cant speak as eloquently as natives do of course but over the last 3 days It's been Japanese non-stop for 8+ hours a day of solid conversation and It's been no problem. Just feel like I've really reached a level where I can say I have a certain level of conversational fluency in Japanese. Still a ways to go til I can out-do a native! Though, It feels good to have 2.5 years worth of hard work feel like it's really, really, really payed off/paying off.

I just don't get it how you guys make such an amazing progress, I am very happy for all of you I really am but I feel like my studies are so slow. I can read but I mostly don't understand WHAT I read beyond a few words, if I do a complete immersion I will go insane, have all of you used complete immersion ?

My immersion is like the best I can do... not 100% cos I don't live in Japan... but all my media is Japanese (except for French stuff which counts as immersion for french) and I do live with Japanese and spend a lot of time with them. I wind up reading a lot in English because that's a big part of my life too. So maybe 50% immersion?? Or a little more than that...
