Learning resources have their place. KO2001/Smart.fm are highly structured and because of that they are also very efficient. You can cover more material, faster, and see quicker short term benefits. With subs2srs, as pubbie stated you have to "pick sentences". Not everything is useful to you, either because it is too easy, too hard or for various other reasons. Every sentence from KO2001 is basically i+1, meaning every sentence is useful to you.
But there's no reason why their use should be mutually exclusive. Both subs2srs and KO2001 are hugely beneficial for Japanese learners. I think its foolish to dismiss either of them offhand.
