The Daily Practice is a website for tracking goals and forming habits by using a system like Seinfeld's "Don't break the chain" idea. I wrote on my blog about how I'm using it to do AJATT and track a bunch of daily/weekly/etc. goals in studying Japanese.

Does anyone else use a system like this?

No , but this looks pretty cool, interesting and possibly useful. I just made an account. I used clockingit.com, but it was more of a time management tool to see where all your time was going. I used it for kanji studying and for my career. It doesn't have thing for goals though.

I make a monthly list of "targets" I want to hit at the first of each month and hang it up on my wall and cross things off as I finish them.

I started using something recently, since my schedule got crowded and I wanted to see how well I keep up (not good, as you see). On a similar note I had a list of kanjis on my wall that I'd color with a marker whenever I learned that particular kanji; it was nice to see my progress like that.
I just use an Excel sheet, though.

Totally only now noticed I had an issue with the final sums(Kanjibox real total is missing). Quickly made excel sheet is quickly made. In case it's not obvious, the big sums are the target per activity, total target and number of hours left before I reach the target. total target calculated by daily target(or at least what I thought was the daily target)*number of days.
