As long as it doesn't get to 10 different series running at once, I don't think having more than one should be a problem.

Though out of the new series Triage X kind of bored me, so I'm glad it's not on the list. But sadly, that's the only one I've read so far.

I haven't read any of them, I just chose ones I thought might be interesting. If we choose one and it sucks, at least we'll be learning Japanese and it should be over in about 24 weeks.

On the contrary, that's exactly the point. We're reading the same manga so we are able to discuss it in common.

Read Baka to Test to Shoukanjyuu (バカとテストと召喚獣) and O-Oku Cha-Ka-Pon! (大奥チャカポン!), which I liked better (Traige X just doesn't seem to get anywhere).

A lead character in O-Oku speaks in that 'foreigner Japanese' style, so I don't know how useful her lines would be for learning from, but it's pretty short (18 pages) compared to most of the others (40-60).

But who does the actual graphical insertion of the translated lines into the balloons?

We don't really need a group to translate that then. 2 or 3 people will translate everything and about 3 or 4 will answer all the questions. The other people will just read the translations. It's useful for the people translating, but the other people aren't really doing anything. I guess the other people could translate it too, but for me personally, I don't have much motivation to translate if I see a link to a raw and right under it, I see a full translation already done.

a scantailation(sp) group. They put everything into bubbles etc.

Chandlerhimself Wrote:I'm interested in doing another manga. It seems there are a lot of people here doing Conan, so there isn't much point in having 20 people do the same thing(and I don't really like Conan that much). I'd rather start on a new manga, so if someone else wants to start one of the mangas here http://mangahelpers.com/news/details/165 let's start. I'm interested in

Akazukin Eliza (赤ずきんエリーザ)
Baka to Test to Shoukanjyuu (バカとテストと召喚獣)
Blust! (ブラスト)
Hokenshitsu no Shinigami (保健室の死神)
Loose Relation between Wizard & Apprentice(魔法使い(♂)と弟子(♀)の不適切なカンケイ)
Mana Biya (まなびや)
O-Oku Cha-Ka-Pon! (大奥チャカポン!)

If any of these appeal you you, let's get started.
Although this is my first post in this thread, and I'm also fairly new on my Japanese studies after RTK, I've hesitated for a while about posting here(well, since this morning.. It's past midnight now ^_^). Anyways, "Loose Relation between Wizard & Apprentice(魔法使い(♂)と弟子(♀)の不適切なカンケイ)" seems kinda interesting to me. I read a few pages this morning, but I haven't yet finished the first chapter. Do you know if it's a weekly or a montly release series?

I might take a look at some of the other series too later on too, but for now I'll stick with this.

Even though I'm working on Conan, I also think that Wizard and Apprentice sounds interesting and would enjoy following along.

Apparently it's a monthly series:

Says, "Magazine: Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh 2009-06"

I'm interested too =D

I'm down for it. So let's do "Loose Relation between Wizard & Apprentice(魔法使い(♂)と弟子(♀)の不適切なカンケイ)". Monthly is good for me since, I'm trying to finish KO2001 right now and I have 100 more to go. How do you want to do this? Should everyone just try to finish ASAP or maybe we can all try to do 10 pages a week and then at the end of the week talk about the story, problems, kanji we don't know, etc. Anyway let's start separate thread soon.

I'm not really attracted by that 魔法使い manga, but I quite liked 神話ポンチ, so if someone else is interested we could set up a group for that. Anybody?

Otherwise the one called いもうとデイズ may also be interesting (but it's a totally different genre).

One question: the google docs for Conan and Mahoutsukai are in text form, but wouldn't it be better to use a spreadsheet?

I'm not sure why a spreadsheet would be better. That said, I went to some of the spreadsheets for the other projects and Rikaichan didn't work with them. Is there some way to use Rikaichan with a spreadsheet? If not, then we should keep it as text.

I'll give it go, although it looks harder than the others at first glance (no furigana =( )

Ah! That's right! It must be because it's a seinen intended for an older audience.
Anyway, I'll try opening a dedicated thread. If no one else comes, we can just drop it or something.
