kanji/japanese in western films

#1
I am just watching Aliens 3 (poor film I know its on tv) and I noticed in the big tunnel there is transcend - tall - something - something on the wall. I don't know the whole meaning or all the kanji.
It made me interested to do a spot the Japanese thread.
I have seen kanji on Gunns t-shirt in angel and there is blade runner too.
Anyone know what this from Aliens 3 means?
And who else has spotted some kanji?

Well in Star Wars movies I've noticed katakana on the street signs in some seens. I think it was Attack of the Clones..... maybe it was a coincidence that the made up language resembled katakana but I saw some.... does that count?

Yesterday I saw a woman with a kanji (or Hanzi, I don't know what language she was aiming for because it was only 1 character that I didn't recognize) and I had to laugh because I know that getting a character tattoo is never a good idea xD Cause sometimes they don't mean what you think they mean....

Always seems weird getting a tattoo in a language you don't speak or know anything about.

A sizable portion of the "code" in the Matrix is Katakana reflected around so that it's backwards like in a mirror.

apparently theres a guy lives in my town, (i dont know him) he went to beijing couple years back, and tried to get his girlfriends name "Sarah" written on his arm in Chinese. The tatooist didn't understand what he said, so apparently he has the character for "Salad" instead. which if is true..is absolutly brilliant.
As English names can't be written in Kanji, thats the same for chinese characters (im reluctant to call them Hanzi because im not sure if Hanzi is mandarin or cantonese or both.. i don't plan to learn chinese at any point so ive never looked it up) so im guessing everyone who has a chinese tatoo on themselves thinking its there lovers name or w/e is just some tatooists (or god forbid googles) approximation of something somewhat similar.

If they were into learning some Asian language I would get it. But I would not go out and get a tattoo in Russian on my arm when I have never gone to Russia or learnt any Russian. But thats just crazy me!

If anyone ever asks you to help them with a kanji tatoo, hit them in the face.
