For transcend, keep the monk image if that's what sticks in your head.

Surpass, I think of as two groups in a parade running and trying to "surpass" each other. Really sense the competition and urgency as they try to get to the end first.

Just be sure your stories are distinct. Don't be afraid of failing a story. If you fail them enough and are forced to remember the stories enough, you will learn these, and probably much better than others that came easy for you.

The beauty of the SRS is that you will learn it fairly "effortlessly". Just don't panic when you fail. Work hard to remember, but just keep in mind that failing cards is just part of the process.

Don't mean to be preachy or anything. I'm only at 906, but I feel like I learned the hard way that failing isn't really a bad thing.

If you watched the animatrix - my story
Transcend space and time by seducing the crowd with your running speed.

And I don't use the parade stuff, you can check out my stories on all those parade/party/whatever heisig uses

Ugh.. I just failed Transcend earlier today. It just won't stick.

I had "Thoughts of Seduction are Running in your Head, You must Transcend them" as a story, but I keep thinking of the head primitive when it shouldn't be there at all.

I'm really tired right now, so I'll try to cement it in my mind properly tomorrow.. I tried to add some Knaji today but none of these 'The Pinnacle' stories are doing a thing for me. And The alternative Napoleon Bonaparte primitive doesn't really interest me either. Tomorrow I'll try to come up with something unique to deal with this annoying set >.<

unfortunately the thread lists all pics in one posting, my internetconnection can't manage to load this page. (all on one page)

but I will visit the thread from another place, with a better connection!

thank you :-)

越 is used in the kanji for Vietnam as well so just change the keyword if you are confusing the two.

Just as quick note, the stories that usually stick with me are the simplest. The story I used for transcend was something like, "Whilst running a great distance, we are constantly seduced by the thought of stopping, but we must transcend our pain."

I think I was more concise with it in the actual story... but I'm too lazy to check. Smile

My story is '*Running* can *seduce* the soul such that it TRANSCENDs daily life'.

I study kanji for an hour each morning before going for a run in the forest. This one stuck with me first go.

I use the same story. I think this helps if you've actually experienced how running can seduce you once you get good at it.
