Requesting Japanese related mp3s .. Recommendations?

#1
I had been without an mp3 player for some time, but after finding a great deal on a Sandisk Sansa Clip (Same as my last player, I love these little guys!) I'm able to take audio with me virtually anywhere once again.

Can anyone recommend some good mp3s to have on the go?
As far as educational audio goes, I have Pimsleur Japanese and Subliminal Japanese..

Right now I'm looking for something with more Japanese chatter, or perhaps some good music where the Japanese can be understood. If I'm exercising, I probably won't be able to focus on a lesson, so I'd prefer a story or recorded conversation .... A track that doesn't require my absolute attention at all times.

I'll probably look for that audiobook thread, but in addition I'd love to hear your recommendations and your playlists to help keep you immersed while exercising or while in the car, etc.

I generally listen to music or Jdrama audio rips on my iPod. I think it's more important that you are listening to something you enjoy than anything else.

Hmm.. music with Japanese that can be understood. Well, J-Hiphop is often fast as hell (at least faster than your average J-Pop song), but at least to me it sounds closer to "actual" spoken Japanese, so I personally can grasp it more easily in a way.
But if the music is not interesting to you, you probably will not pay much attention. So just get some stuff that you enjoy. Wink

Dood there are some great podcasts from TBS you should check there. I usuallly go through itunes but I am sure there is a way to get it straight from their site. There is even this podcast where they get a bunch of guys and girls in their 20's and just talk about all kinds of stuff pertaining to japanese society, from food to relationships. I find that interesting. I also guess it is good to mix it up. I used to just listen to j-music nonstop but lets face it ..i am sure listening to the news are normally spoken japanese is better for you.

http://podthemusic.pod-radio.jp/ is a good music podcast. It tends to be indie-type music, with lesser-known artists. Each episode features four full-length songs, with minimal talking in between.

saizen,

you wouldn't happen to know the name of the TBS podcast with the 20-yr-olds discussing socially relevant matters and what not, would you?

Someone should create a "Japanese media repository" thread and sticky it. There's so much awesome stuff out there, it'd be nice to have it in kinda an organized format.

Just subscribed to 文科系トークラジオLife and the music podcast a few up. I somehow missed that Life podcast when I first found that TBS site.

The old audiobook thread should work nicely....

There you go...man this stuff is pretty interesting to know. Get to hear what some of the japanese people our age are thinking and how they feel about certain subjects cause I certainly have a lack of communication with the ones at work lol.

*but whose fault is that really...<.<*

If you're into torrents, isohunt.com has a ton of Japanese music, you can also rip videos off of YouTube and convert them to audio (just google around .flv to .mp3 converters).
