Need motivation...

to do class work. I've been on RTK vol 1 for a few days over a month total and I'm at 950 today (just finished the lesson). It really takes all my time to do these kanji and learn new ones (I usually do a lesson a day, thank god I don't have a job :/). If I were to cut back what would be the recommended kanji per day to learn and review?

I used to review all kanji, then add new ones and review again. But my flash card is overflowing so I only review the old ones after memorizing the new ones once now. It takes like an hour and a half to go through the whole stack lol.

You're not supposed to review every single kanji every day. That's.. insane. That's why this site has an SRS system built in. Please read the Learn More http://kanji.koohii.com/learnmore.php section thoroughly. It'll make your life better Wink

Yeah, you're probably using the site wrong. Only review the orange expired piles, don't touch the green ones.

OIC, well that definitely sounds more attractive than what I'm doing now. I should have read that page before starting this, oh well. I'll be sure to tackle this with a bit more sense now. Thanks!

Hahaha! You know, I did the same thing until I got to about 150. I can't believe you made it to 950 doing that! HAH! I'm pretty sure you're not gonna forget those now... wow.. That's very impressive, but... I'm sorry you went through that Tongue

Ah, sethg brings up a point I forgot to mention. Now that all the cards are in the eighth pile, they won't pop up again for 2/3rds of a year. You won't remember them that long because of the way you've been doing it, so it would probably be in your best interest to delete all of your cards and start over again so you can use the system properly. It'll be a heavy load to review at first, but it will wind down, and.. well, apparently you're used to heavy loads Wink

It's actually a fairly common mistake. Someone posts about this sort of thing every once in awhile. And I personally went to around 200 or so before I realized I was doing it wrong, if I remember correctly. Guess we're all just used to ignoring instruction manuals.

Yeah I should clarify that I've been using my own flash cards made from 3x5 cards. But now I understand the usefulness of the reviewing thanks to the instruction page lol. I thought that I shouldn't review on the website because I take all my time going through my own flashcards. So I have a huge 700 cards in my first stack expired lol.

EDIT: And thanks for the compliments, its been a tough month but the lessons seem to be winding down in kanji numbers so I should be finished by next month or so Big Grin.

Double EDIT: I started on the book Jan 17 and its now EXACTLY one month today and I know 950 kanji, it's definitely possible to do 1000 in a month like the review I read on amazon saying. This book is amazing.
