One of my favorite lines in the movie, My Big Fat Greek Wedding:

Bride to be, refering to her fiancee: "He is a vegeterian. He doesnt eat meat!"
(the whole room goes silent)

The Greek Aunt: "Dont eat no meat? What do you mean he dont eat no meat? I know, I will make Lamb!"



I guess meat means beef in the mistranslation.

It is considered distinct from "meat" meat in my language too. Although it clearly is meat, it just feels awkward to call it meat..
Like calling a vegetable a berry.. :/

I myself prefer meat over fish!
