Hashiriya Wrote:this looks quite interesting: http://www.facebook.com/ext/share.php?si..._KI&ref=mfI saw a list the other day that had 2 contributors (Xaky and Moetry-in-Motion) and figured there must be some collaboration stuff now. Having a fully-open list, though... Bleh. Too many jerks in the world for that, unless you've got a full wikipedia-style system with change history and all that.

i'll do 916-930 tomorrow...
with zanzibar doing 901-915, we'll finish out that set... that will just leave the last section to finish out the 1st 1100 kanji, i'll keep working on making lists with anybody who wants to help me to reach 1100... at that point i'm going to study the compiled lists in smart.fm and catch up. after that we can start going towards the last 891 kanji...

Hashiriya, you're a madman.
Since this has been going on slowly over 6 months, what's your latest update on progress? What changes/improvements are you noticing in your Japanese? (anyone else doing this list also chime in).

I was doing 2-3 hours a day on the KO lists but lately have been searching through Youtube videos for exact Japanese subtitles. I especially like this user who creates subtitles for Japanese dubbed Disney movies. http://www.youtube.com/user/Marii26
and for Japanese news with closed caption. http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=...B889D4DFC5
My listening and reading comprehension improved significantly over just a few months using the KO lists but so far my output is still weak. Perhaps it is because I have not drilled in grammar all that much. My gf from Japan arrives tomorrow and will stay 3 weeks so I get to test how I am progressing while playing tour guide.

hehe, i study a decent amount of time but i think there are other people on this website that will reach fluency before me... my output is not so great, but i can read fairly well... my grammar still sucks (as it does in my native tongue)... doing the sentences via smart.fm has helped me a lot but i absolutely feel that a long-term SRS like Anki is going to be needed for my reviews in the future... my goal is to get through the 2001 kanji via smart.fm by the beggining of next year... after that, i`ll probably start using Anki more to review them and catch up on grammar points in the process... i feel i`m heading in the right way but i still have quite a ways to go...

That's not to say I'm unhappy with my pace and progress... And I love being where I'm at, since I can read enough to have fun... But wow, it would be nice to progress so much faster.
