Online Magazines

#1
Today I came across this:

http://www.square-enix.com/jp/magazine/g...index.html

Which is an online magazine with comics and serial novels. So far I haven't managed to get any of the content to actually display, so I don't know what it's like. If it still doesn't after updating Flash, I'll have to assume it has a region lock-out or something. (Although Flash means you can't just simply copy+paste stuff.)

I was wondering if anyone knew of any other similar sites (magazines, but not necessarily comics)?

Did anyone get it to work? It seems interesting, but I can't display the contents. I only get a white page.

I got this one to work by choosing the browser view option, but most of them don't seem to have that. The flash comic viewer won't display.

I've tried it in FireFox and IE, but still haven't got it to work. IE's status bar says "done, but with errors on this page" (object does not support this property or method). I'm not sure what that means, and am not in the mood to be looking it up right now

I just took a quick look with Chrome, and every page I tried seems to display fine. Smile

Even the manga pages? I also tried with opera but still got blank screens for those. The rest of the pages do display, but the real content doesn't...

I just tried it with Chrome (just installed and not messed around with the settings), but the viewer is still doesn't display anything.

I also tried Chrome, the installation isn't even a day old, and it didn't work. The site itself works fine though.

XP / Firefox 3 / Japan seems also to be a winning combination.

Maybe they limit connections based on your region?

The Square Enix one appears to work here. Florida, USA. Linux. Firefox 3.

I'm pretty sure I tried FF3 on OS X at work and it showed only white. (It didn't work, in other words.) I'll try it again tomorrow... And try to find some time to try it from a Vista laptop.

Edit: It works on FF3 on OS X here now, too.

Torejan Island. It's the first 3 or so chapters of manga from Shounen Jump, but I think it ends at the end of the month. You can probably find most of them on sites like Mangahelpers (I've not checked), but maybe there are some that aren't.

For Mac users, here's a browser that should display it:

Camino = Mozilla engine = Firefox = already available on OSX. Camino just uses a native OSX interface..

It works just fine in Safari anyways...
