I did a very bad thing. I stopped doing reviews/learning new kanji about 3 months ago when I left Japan. I had reached 1350 kanji.

I am now finally trying to get back into it.

I realised my version of ANKI was very old, so I downloaded the new one and opened up my existing Heisig deck with it.

I want ANKI to go through revision of the 1350 kanji I previously learnt before it shows me any new ones. But unfortunately the new ANKI seems to be throwing in Kanji from the entire 2045, without bothering to review those 1350 first.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I looked at some of the settings but they look as though they are set correctly for what I want.

Please help me! It's ridiculous that kanji #1923 should pop up when i've never learnt anything past 1350.

Thanks in advance

Go to the Deck properties, Scheduling and select "show cards in the order they were added".

It's already set to that.

It's as if during the update ANKI has lost the knowledge that only 1350 had been added so far.

Sad maybe i'd be better off restarting altogether with a new Heisig deck. Although that would be a real shame.

Edit> Deck Properties > Scheduling

Under New Cards change "Spread new cards out through review" to "Show new cards after all other cards"

You could also just go into edit cards and sort by Heisig number, then suspend all unlearned cards. I prefer that method anyway personally.

Edit: if the above doesn't work (no idea why it shouldn't), try setting number of new cards per day to 0.

This I had also already done, so it's odd that it should still be doing the wrong thing.

This is exactly what I want to do! But how exactly do I do it? Sorry if it's completely obvious.

I've done this as well

Under Edit Facts, click the drop down menu under "Sort". Choose "Field: Heisig number". You should then be able to scroll down to number 1350 and select all the cards after that and go Facts>Add Tag>"Suspended"

If you're using the default Heisig deck it should already be set, but make sure under model properties the "Heisig number" field has "Numeric?" checked

If cards you haven't seen before are appearing, it sounds like they've been marked as existing. Did you try run 'check db integrity'?

It looks like this has hit the nail on the head! Thank you so much, Resolve.

If it stops working I will retry Shakkun's steps which look sure to help in an alternate way.

Thank you all very much for your help. I have no idea what checking DB integrity does, but i like it :-)

I didn't wanted to create a new thread so I'll just ask it here.

Well, I downloaded Anki, did nothing else other than trying to download tae kim's deck and RTK 1+3 deck. Unfortunately, I couldn't.

It appeared this:

An error occurred. Please:
Restart Anki.
Tools > Advanced > Full Database Check.
If it does not fix the problem, please copy the following
into a bug report:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "ankiqt\ui\getshared.pyc", line 184, in accept
File "ankiqt\ui\getshared.pyc", line 205, in handleFile
IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: u'C:\\Users\\TMN\\Documents\\Heisigs Remember the Kanji (RTK) 13.anki'

Ok, I tried to solve this by doing waht they ask and etc. BUt is there anything I need to do since I just simply downloaded anki and tried to download decks?

Where can I find the decks I want?

Thanks.
