It shows "休憩​ -- 少し休憩しましょう。" and I read the entire sentence, with emphasis on 休憩​. Fail is not pronouncing it right or not knowing it's meaning.

It shows (and reads alound) "きゅうけい​ -- すこしきゅうけいしましょう" and I only write out 休憩. Fail is not writing it correctly or not knowing it's meaning.

For both, if I don't know other parts of the sentence (meanings, pronunciation), I'll mark it as "difficult" but not a fail.

Seems to work fine, and I go through about 120 cards (~60 dictation, 60 readings) an hour.

I have tried to use the anki-plugin to import data of Chinese lessons. Unfortunatly it did not work (Importing Japanese stuff works fine). Has anyone managed to import Chinese-lists from iKnow - it should be possible, as it says so in the description of the plugin? If not, do you know how to contact the author of the anki-plugin - I could not find contact-info in the .py-file/in the anki-wiki.

EDIT: The plugin has been updated, so it works now. When asked for a language code you have to type "zh-CN"

I am currently working on a system for mass-importing into iKnow. I will try to keep that in mind as a possible application for it when it's ready, Nukemarine.

I don't have much free time, so it could be a while before I've got anything usable, though. (I'm actually working on it right now, though.)

I first shrugged off the Chinese charachters list - Blah I already can write probably 95% of those, I do things the Heisig-way anyways - BUT THEN:
They have at least one sentence for each Hanzi - which makes a total of 3571 sentences building up from beginner stuff to high intermediate stuff! Afterwards one can go go build up vocacb via "Chinese: the Media" course.

It is a great time to be a language learner - actually I begin to think i started a little bit early - so much work went into my anki-deck which now seems pretty much lower in quality than the iknow stuff.

Good times indeed. I got nothing but errors when trying to import these into anki with the script, though. Anyone have any success?

Edit: Just looked above and I'm about to see if I just need to update the script.

So far there are still some things not 100% with the script (i.g. you cannot download only sentences (vocab is obligatory) and pinyin is not downloaded). However, the author is planning a version that can do so by the end of february.

No, the author has already released a version that only downloads sentences. And the original version I made supported that from the start.

All that's happening, for me, is it says finished with out doing anything or I lose the ability to type in Anki. @_@

Edit: Seems to be moving now. I had to use the 3rd option first (voc and sentences). It's funny now, I was using the import "new items" and experimenting with different letter cases to see if anything would change.

Wow, I missed checking for one day or so and v5 is out. However resolves's plugin can't handle Chinese if I am not mistaken - and pinyin-import is also not yet supported in v5?!

To be fair, iKnow's JSON API responses are failing for the Chinese requests, so it's a bug on their end. Feel free to report it.

Is anyone else having trouble getting the new plugin to work? When I choose "iKnow - import sentences and vocab" only vocab is being imported (this happens for both Japanese and Chinese).

I got the new plugin to work just fine as far as importing the sentences, though it gives me the usual problem of importing extra cards. I get 238 cards when I imported Core 2000 Step 3, but it's fine. I'm too lazy to dig through the cards to find what is the problem so I'm just leaving it that way for now.

I dont suppose you have a link for a deck that will place the emphasis on the word you are learning? I havent found one with it yet. Trying to learn the entire sentence in one go when there may be two or more new words is too hard.

If you haven't checked since last weekend (2009.02.15), please update your version of the iKnow->Anki plugin. Get it here:

and be sure to delete the old version from your plugins directory.

This version has an option to customize the card types created (and also to import sentences only). It will offer you the chance to edit your card types before your first import. Editing of cards types is done using Anki's built-in Settings->Deck Properties->(Edit Model) option. So you can have only a reading card, or reading & production card, etc. Of course, you can also change the data that appears in the question/answer fields.

Be sure to include your Anki version, operating system, the list URL you're importing, the native language you entered when the plugin asked for it, and any changes (if any) you made to the models/fields (don't change them!) or changes you made to the cards (that's ok!)

Note: one user above mentioned problems with Chinese lists. The new version works just fine with these lists. Just be sure to input English ('en', without the quotes) as your native language when you're studying one of the iknow Chinese Media lists. Or any other learning Chinese using English list.

Not sure what you are asking here for the deck. The word and the sentence are shown side by side in my deck. If I wanted to, I could highlight the word in the sentence, but its more effort than I care.

For sentences with many new words, you can go the 100% route where you want to know all words. I just don't mark my sentece wrong if I don't know all the words in the sentence (oddly enough I learn the words eventually). Only the emphasized word determines if I mark the sentence wrong.

OH! Yeah, I had to manually do that with the spreadsheet I made (it was the reason I made it in the first place). No, iKnow separates vocabulary lists from sentence lists. It's not too hard to do, but you do need to manipulate word and spreadsheet documents using copied vocabulary lists from iKnow to pull it off.

Out of interest, does the spreadsheet's item names for audio and images match up to your downloaded images using iKnow? I assume they're supposed to, but I haven't confirmed it with anybody.

I cant get neither sounds nor images to work with the spreadsheet. Ive been searching for whatever streaming plugin you were talking about but I havent been able to get it to work.

First make sure there is a *deck name*-media folder. Try comparing the entry in the "audio" and "image" fields of your deck with the names of the audio and image files you have in your media folder. If they don't match, what you might have to do is use the plugin to re-download the items.

OK using that method Ive managed to get the sounds working but it isnt possible with the images. They arent ripped from iKnow. Anywhere I can get them?
