Keitai reviews

#1
Thanks to some helpful members of this community, I've decided that the Japanese offering of the iPhone is not for me so I'm looking to buy a different keitai. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about good web sites, magazines or whatever, which could help guide me in my purchase. I had this website recommended to me:

http://kakaku.com/

which is good but it's mainly based on user reviews, who seem to be far more concerned with how the thing looks and feels rather than its functionality. Nikkei Trendy is also pretty good but they don't give any definitive recommendations. It's more a case of 'this device has the biggest article attached to it, and it's the first one we're looking at in a list of devices, therefore you should assume that it's pretty good'.

I'm definitely going to go for docomo or au since my apartment acts as some kind of shield against softbank reception in any form. Even when you're pressed up against the window.

Any recommendations, in Japanese or English would be very much appreciated.

Why? There are some great applications for iPhone already and in 6 months there will be even more amazing stuff - so you're resolved to miss out on it all?

I'm very happy with my Japanese iPhone so far, as I have been happy with my UK one.

Mainly due to posts like these: http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?p...9#pid23709

But even if what dilandau said was incorrect, exaggerated or insignificant next to the huge benefits of the iphone, there's still the problem that I get zero Softbank reception in my apartment. And I mean zero - my current Softbank keitai is pretty useless to me when I'm at home.

なるほど。 I know how irritating this can be, I lived for a while in a flat with very poor O2 coverage in Central London - none of my friends thought it was possible until they could see it!...
