Alright, I think I have caught up with giving access to those who are authorized. It seems that about half of the chapters are already completed, and all are assigned. If you didn't get a chapter to do, then you can check over the some of the other chapters.

I checked CH 1, 3, 4 and 5 and adjusted if required. I think they are pretty much ok now.
Unfortunately I don't have much time in the coming 2 weeks, so if anyone could continue the checking of the Chapters, that would be nice.

I have a bit of a suggestion. Instead of trying to get sentences from this book, just get sentences from dramas. Watch the drama, and then go read the script, read it out loud, and the listen again to how it's actually said. It's better if you reinforce your readings with audio/video. In this way, the expressions that you learn will be associated with a particular image(such as a scene in the drama).

Dramas are a great idea, and very useful tool. But it doesn't need to be a mutually exclusive, "instead of" activity. Dramas are an important way to maximise audio/visual inpute *alongside* sentence miming for Khatzumoto's 10,000 sentences. And sure, sentences should come from a range of sources, including, but certainly not only, from dramas. It's much quicker to take sentences direct from this book of sentences with English translations than to try to gather sentences from dramas. So it would be a shame to ignore this resource.

Also, drama mining is very hit and miss. It's good to have more structured books to make sure you don't miss some important phrases, especially as a beginner wondering where to start.

I started adding the sentences into my srs today to learn them. I think this is going to end up being really helpful, as although I have a good grasp on things like grammar and such, I can't even really hold a basic conversation. The point really hit home recently as a lot of my friends got back from study abroad, and now they can talk Japanese, and I can't. The phrases in this book seem like they should do wonders for general conversation/chit-chat.
While I was at it, I added the male/female symbols to the first entries where they are used on the first sheet. I found out you can actually bring them up in the IME by typing おす or めす. Just thought I'd put that out there in case anyone would rather just use the symbols instead of having the words male or female.

I added what I had already done of chapter 14, but someone else should probably finish it. I just started back at college, and don't really have enough time to work on anything other than schoolwork and keeping up with my daily reviews right now.

I'm personally with the critics at the start of this topic. My friend bought this book when we lived in Japan, early 2007. He thought it was hilarious, but fact is that many of the sentences were not only outdated, but also obscure. I'm especially talking about the various "funny" ones which has to do with sex etc. Often Japanese people wouldn't even understand the phrases, let alone think he was funny.

I've only skimmed the book at a bookstore, but most of the content fell into either of two categories: very basic, or unusable & worthless (dialectical, outdated, etc).
I suppose for a learner who doesn't have the opportunity to actually socialize with native speakers the basic content can be useful, but they have no way to tell it apart from the chaff. If you can you should ALWAYS learn slang, dialects, and casual speech patterns from a native speaker of the same gender. Books can never do them justice (関西弁 books are THE awful).
