Am I strange?

#26
Yo, Yes I finished allmost 2 weeks ago. In 3 months and 1 day, working 8hs/day.
It was a lot of pain, and not everything went acording to the plan. In the beggining I tought I would finish RTK in a month, but it took 2 more.

You can sure finish RTK before december. I do not recomend to aim lower than that. You probably can do much better than me, as you have a great memory.

But beware, after finishing RTK you wont be able to read any japanese at all.

So, if you wana impress anyone, fit learning actual japanese in your schedule. RTK is not impressive to japanese people. They will tell you that "jyozu desu ne" crap and laught at you behind your back for not being able to read what you write.

But you'll feel the power of RTK while learning japanese. And you'll have the confidence boost of having dominated the 2042 kanji beforehand.

I had the experience of studying japanese without doing RTK before. Over that I'll just say today I enjoy to be able to study japanese with good input, instead of crappy textbook input.

You misunderstand me, friend. My aim is to finish RTK in the next 20 days or so. My goal for December was to have a basic understanding of the language in general. I may even start incorporating readings before I finish RTK, but I'll see how I feel about that later. Right now I'm just gathering learning resources and such.

I guess I'll do a sort of twice weekly update or something...
I'm up to frame 508, and it has been 8 days. So I'm doing an average of about 65 kanji per day. The last two days I've done over a hundred, and before that I did around 50, taking a day off a few days ago. Reviews have been pretty low in numbers thus far, but I think tomorrow is when I start seeing the big numbers. Out of all reviews, I only have 8 fails. Interestingly enough, six of those were on the same day. That means my overall recall rate is about 99%. I sure do hope I can keep that up.

Something weird happened during review today though. The 幌 card never came up! I've checked the paper I was writing on too many times to have just missed it, and the site says that I reviewed it. I need to find it! It'll keep me up all night Tongue

Edit: Typo.... And why did my towel primitive lose an arm?!

Today I finished the hugely-large LESSON 23!!! Cake. So as of now, I am on frame number 766 and it has been eleven days. Average of ~70 kanji per day. To meet my "deadline" of August 17, I need to add ~80 kanji per day. My overall retention rate is still above 98%, if I recall correctly, so no trouble there. My reviews for the last few days have been in the 130 range. This weekend I plan on doing some *serious* kanji studying, maybe even 8 hours a day or more, so I expect my daily requirement to come down quite a bit, which is cool. I know tomorrow I plan on finishing lesson 25, which would be about the same number of kanji as today. Also, I'll start on Pimsluer if I feel up to it, but the German one bored me to tears.

So overall it's been pretty easy so far, and I'm still having fun with it. And It's going to feel so good when I finish!

Pimsleur is indeed boring. Pimsleur is specially great if you take a long time commuting and you would like something to help you sleep during it. Besides that, it is rock solid, and I recomend it.

Yo, 98% retention! hurray! I wish I had that!
