And I've never tried velveeta. What the hell is that?
Oh and it's not quite the same, but if you're into the whole psychedelic mantra/noisy rock stuff (that's what I remember of Flower Travelin' Band, hehe) check out another Japanese artist(s), Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso UFO.
I was going to recommend the Habit of Sex blog for some truly interesting '80s/'90s Japanese music, but looks like it got gutted and had to start over, not much there now...
Example:
Heh, I've listened to so much music, I think this is the only way I can recommend it--reactive associations, tangents... otherwise when I think 'Okay, Japanese music... ' my brain just crashes.
While I'm at it, I would recommend Kashiwa Daisuke or Motoro Faam--I often want to but refrain because of the lack of vocals, but since I'm going through my 2008 music discoveries, I might as well mention Mutyumu:
- It's like Noble/Schole records meets Die Form or (old) Theatre of Tragedy... (Actually the male vocals on that PV remind me of Soil & Pimp Sessions.)
