PALM PDA NOT JAPANESE SUPPORTED?

#1
I called Palm technical support (800-881-7256; stay on the liine and you eventually get connected to technical) and was told that the only non-Euro language supported is Chinese. Here I am talking about an English system Palm bought in the US.

Is this techie correct?

ivoSF, thank you! You are right about J-OS. An informative article exists at this website: http://www.palmsource.com/interests/japan/#2

J software that works on Japanese system Palms may not necessarily work on English system ones (even though the latter have J-OS). The article doesn"t say how to stear clear of this.

Anyone have advice about this?

ivoSF, Wow, you are right on track. I want to do the same thing. If I could have an easy to use PDA that would do my RTK stuff and function also as a wordtank, that would great.

Aside from memory, is there a Palm model more suitable than others?

im very happy with mine palm zire 72 i bought second hand for 90 euro(i just ordered a 1gb sd-card for 20 euro(together that makes about 140 dollar)

any relative recent palm should be fine(must have sd-slot), so the remaining things that are a factor are the price and battery life.
