I did it. finally...
well I'm doing this much more slowly than everyone else, I'm learning for approximately 1 year now... but that's my pace, what can one do?
congratulations to me!!!
ps: Why do Heisig had to put one more primitive at this milestone? hehehe

Hmm, should we start taking bets on Shamano / uberclimber race? Shamano, have you picked up the gauntlet? Congrats to you both and to Jen_Ai_Chan (is she the dark horse who is going to pass you both?) on 3/4 mark...

I'm also 1550. I only have two weeks where I can completely focuss on it, but when uni starts again I'll be really close to finishing. Really motivated after being super slow for weeeks and seeing the light ahead in the tunnel.^^

Man. I've been doing this at full speed for six weeks, but this week I lost some of my momentum. I was supposed to be at 1583 by today, but I'm only at 1400. I could have this done in two and a half weeks! I'm so close!
I just don't know how to get my kanji mojo back, though. I know myself, and once I start to lose steam, it's almost impossible to get back up to par. Ugh!

After doing around 100 kanjis a day just for the duration of the little spring vacation I had I have now reached up to 1450 mark. Now I just have an immense amount of kanji reviews to catch up along the way.

Harrow, that's exactly what I need.
Anyone out there at around 1400, who is anticipating being done in the next few weeks? Maybe I'll go through the recent posts on this thread, and msg. some people. I need some kanji homies to go neck and neck with.

I'm still only at the 1293 mark at the moment, and right now I also have a bunch of reviews going (in the middle of a huge spike, from the initial reviews after switching to anki), but I'm aiming to finish at April 27th, the 3 month mark since I started. It's been going slow lately, so this might be the extra "punch" that I need to finish "in time" for that goal. I'll get my reviews sorted out one of these days, and then I'll come back to this thread.

Made it! Started with mad fire and dreams of a two month finish! But that was January 2nd. Around 1100-1200 I slowed WAY down (shamefully only added 144 in all of March). It just was getting too painful, and some of the mini sprints I had done, 108, 156 (shudder), 70...only burnt me out with ugly reviews, poorer than acceptable pass %'s, and eventual kanji brain injury! Began to Sentence mine and Anki, to keep my damn sanity (I did keep up RTK reviews)! Yes I could have finished by now, but I'm glad I switched it up . Even unfamiliar kanji are still familiar at this point. And reviews are under control. I have learned a good deal about healthy pacing, and how to get the most enjoyment out of it all. I added 20 sentences to Anki this morning (yo thanks Nukmarine and co. for the Odessey lists, bad-ass!), added 35 new kanji, and still have energy for some Anki reps, and my RTK review.
One recent development for me with RTK, is just making my own primitives up, for most of them. Might have been nice to have started doing that a bit earlier, as many of you do/did. I missed out on the Spiderman thing, and used thread...but it's too late to change now I think LOL! When I got to sheaf, and saw someone used wolverine, I made the break from J.W. (Dubya LOL)!
Anyway, I have the fire back, and aim to finish by the end of this month. As extra motivation I bought RTK3 yesterday.....so really I'm only half way LOL.
Yo Thunk, your not too far back from me....meet me at the finish line, April 30, if you can!
Thanks to all you hard core kanji warriors out there. I really appreciate everyone here. I don't know what it would be like doing this without the good people at koohii-YOU ROCK!
I'LL SEE YOU AT THE MOUNTAIN TOP!

Sleepyhead! It's on! I'm gonna shoot for around 1800 by April 27th, and if I exceed that, suweet. Up until last week, I was doing over 250/week. I just finished my reviewing of all the previous ones, today, so my mind is ready to absorb more. At 1400 currently.
TaylorSan - bring it! April 30th just might be doable...
I'm intimidated by poor %'s, too. I just barely started putting my older kanji into this site's SRS - after I've already reviewed them manually a dozen times, so my %'s are high. I just put RTK3 in my cart at Amazon, too! Haven't purchased it, but I will. We are at a similar pace. And I agree about making up our own primitives. Way easier to remember stuff. I'm extra anxious to finish this kanji thing, because I know NOTHING else. Don't know kana, don't know grammar, let alone pronunciation. Don't know jack. I'm doing this in the steps AJATT recommends. Can't wait to pick up something else.
Alright, you two. Giddyup!

There! Just finished 1530. Gimme two weeks...two weeks, and I'll be done.
TaylorSan, Sleepyhead, where you at?
(and can I just say how shocked I am at all these intensely motivated individuals? They're here by the thousands. It blows my mind. I'm unique among my friends and family, but here, I'm one of many.)

I'm only at 1280 as of today, but I very much feel the end is in sight, especially as the last few chapters are in nice chunks. I've planned out my progress from now on- a chapter a day, excluding weekends, and two days for chapers with other 50ish kanji in.
My predicted finish date is the 29th of May- just over a month left, and that will make it almost five and a half months I'll have studied for.

I made it to 1540 today. The failed or never tested pile is empty. I am 3/4 of the way done! RAWR!
I will meet any obstacles in life without changing my pace in the kanji. I will stay in this tank mode for the last 500. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It is time to start counting down, but not time to cheer yet.
I just know it is going to feel so good when I am done.

I actually made it to 3/4 yesterday without realising it! Today I'm at frame 1650 and planning to have finished RtK 1 in 5 days- by this Saturday. I'm going at a pace of 100/day :-)

I just added 1531! It's been pretty hard lately adding new cards, i admit i'm getting tired... If it wasn't for the great stories on this site I'd never would get to this point alone. thanks all!
I'll try to reach the end as fast as I can even if my retention rates are dropping. I'll then dedicate to close holes just reviewing and updating stories
