Wow, this is great. I remember trying out one of these linked from Jim Breen's site. I didn't find it worked very well at all. This one on the other hand seems to work brilliantly. I've got so practiced at looking kanji up in JWPce or my H&S that I don't think I would need it much now, but you never know and it's still a nice toy (it's handy that I've got a digitizing pad and pen!).

It works pretty well, and is much lighter than the Java one I've used before. However, it doesn't work anywhere as well as commercial Japanese handwriting recognition software. I've played with some that are just mind blowing... I can scribble the kanji with incorrect number of strokes and it gets it right almost every time. This site on the other hand seems very delicate and gives me slightly different results each time I write the same kanji. But, it's a good resource in any case, and way better than the old Java one.
