I include rebuttals to common criticisms of RTK. And I also plug kanji.koohii.com since it's sort of an integral part of RTK done right.

I have to say I like the review Snispilbor, especially this part: "It's EXCELLENT exercise in creativity, a skill that will enhance all aspects of your life, not just your kanji learning."

That is just oh-so-true !

I for myself wouldn't have put in the "Dark Evil Secrets" section though...I don't think that's good publicity for the kanji.koohii website and also not how Fabrice would want to see it advertised... Apart from that: keep on writing!

I agree and regardless I think it's not a "secret" anyway. If people want to save themselves a few dollars and spend valuable time trying to figure out what primitive is what, and completing RtK without the book's helpful advice, let them be. The same goes for many other sites. You can read Harry Potter fiction for example if you're so cheap you never want to buy Rowling's books (not that I am into Harry Potter but that's an example).

And you can use this method without this site even, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the simple mnemonic system that Heisig used.

I think that section of your otherwise excellent review doesn't add anything.

It's not just that he deserves the money, it's that the time you are going to spend juggling between 3 different sites to gather the correct information will very likely cost you more than getting the book in the first place, because directly or indirectly .. your time is worth money.

You guys are right about the "dark secrets" section. I deleted it and replaced it with a new section with fake testimonials from fake other readers.

I have to admit that cracked me up , especially the one about the book making it worth living

I liked the Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanji one. It made me laugh pretty good.
But yeah, the book is great and so is this site and although I haven't gotten to 2042 yet, I have done enough to see that this method is some much better than rote learning. I wonder how come some people still think that it's better to spend so much time doing something so bore as drilling kanji instead of using more effective ways of learning.
Oh well, maybe that's just a tradition that's hard to get rid of.

I think that many of the dissenters have already dedicated so much time to their own learning methods that they feel the need to bash so they don't feel like they've been wasting their time.. I think others are so intimidated by the idea of learning all the characters with no readings in book 1 that they lash out as well. The time factor scares them away. It does take a leap of faith to start chapter one, then it starts getting fun. ^^
