Show your appreciation !

#1
Today I am personally going to hand out 20 likes / thanks , starting with the moderator team.

I invite anyone who actually appreciate the work I did on this forum to make it more attractive and welcoming, to try and hand out 1 like everyday to anybody who's post you found helpful ... or that you just, you know, LIKE Smile

Here is some ideas:
  • look at any bookmarks you made of threads on this forum, send some  Heart to the OP !
  • look for the sticky threads  in each forum, like Nukemarine's Suggested Guide for Beginners (one of the most linked-in threads), The Podcast Thread , etc.
  • look at the most viewed / replied to threads in the forum stats
  • or... feel free to like / thank this post or my profile even  Angel

Quick reminder about the Reputation / Like system

* Click the heart next to "Reply" in a person's post, or "Rate" on a person's profile.
* There is only one rate per post and per profile.
* You can remove a rate / like, by going to the person's profile  > Reputation > Details and delete it from there.
* You can leave a message (think like a guest book)

Even if OP of a thread you like is no longer active, I might be able to add a "Most liked threads" list of some sort in the future.

ps: there IS a minor bug where the Rate popup may not close, if that happens reload the page. I'll apply a patch for it soon.

Bump! Bump! Bump!

I'm not sure where to post topics like film/drama/music....
is it General discussion? Off-topic?

Example:
Original title - 腑抜けども、悲しみの愛を見せろ
Transliterated title - Funuke Domo, Kanashimi no Ai wo Misero
Funuke Show Some Love, You Losers! (2007)
https://eigapedia.com/movie/funuke-show-...you-losers

P.S. Yeah, I gave a few Heart away today, It didn't cost me a yen or penny. Big Grin

I liked it. "Thanks" seems to convey a better meaning than the word "Reputation" earlier.
May I suggest something like.... "Thanks Received" and "Thanks Given" instead of "Thanks".

I think most people post threads relating to native material in the learning resources section. That might just be conformation bias because it's what I do though.

Yes I agree "Thanks Given" and "Thanks Received" would be better. I'll look into the Thank You/Likes plugins.

Regarding film / drama / music, sure Learning Resources sounds good.

I think the following threads could be fun:

* Misc videos (funny videos, videogame related, etc. requirement to be in Japanese)
* Documentaries and short films (about Japan / Japanese culture / Japanese language)
* Music (all kinds, even Kitaro or Ken Ishii so long as it's related to Japan?)

I'd suggest the following rule for such threads :

* MUST post 1 video / media link (ie. soundcloud) per post (this should help prevent thread to derail)
* No playlists or channel links. That defeats the purpose of having a media oriented thread (as opposed to bunch of text and links). People can always find the channel / playlist from the videos.

If we have just 2-3 such threads they won't clog the Recent Topics list.

Remember you can just paste a YouTube URL now.

Share your thoughts, and if nobody starts a thread I guess I'll create them soon.
