Does anyone know of any sites that offer free graded reading material? I know there are lots for japanese but I'm looking for some simple short children stories or articles that I can start with

Both of those are very useful in my opinion, although I don't know for how long the first one is going to stay up.
There is also another page, while not really graded reading material, it could be used as such if you know what to look for.

It's a page for manga translated into Chinese. The page itself is in simplified, but it seems the manga itself is written in traditional. Personally I'm currently reading a manga i found very easy in Japanese, called よつばと, the Chinese name for it is 四葉妹妹.
