RTH Vol 1 -- Out of print? Where can I buy this book?

#1
So, it would seem Remembering Traditional Hanzi Vol 1 is out of print, or between printings at least? The prices on Amazon are $300+ new, and start at $180 used.

Where can I buy this for a more reasonable price? (Yes I know that trading posts are not allowed here, so let's nip it in the bud -- no trades, I'm looking for reputable bookstores that are selling it.)

You can order from Heisig himself in Japan, it was pretty quick when I ordered my copy of RTK.

$37 including postage, Nanzan Institute for Religion and Culture - Misc Publications

Really sorry that the book isn't available for a better price on Amazon. I got it about 9 months ago and it was probably around 29 dollars. Fortunately the other three books are $29, but that's not of much help to you!

Well, I tried and it says it's not available at this time. I guess it's just sold out everywhere. Sad

Can someone please explain to me why the price on Amazon is $180 but it is sold for less than $40 on the website?

Amazon doesn't have the book in stock, so all the 3rd-party sellers are jacking up the price since they know the book is (at least for now) very rare. The website is the original seller and the book must have originally sold for 40, but they don't have the book in stock so their price is meaningless.

I really hope Heisig isn't discontinuing RTH 1 but keeping RSH 1.

Looks like Books-A-Million is offering it for $29, but they're saying it ships in 2-4 weeks. Is that a euphemism for 'we don't have it in stock'? http://www.booksamillion.com/p/Rememberi...Qgod9jkABA

RTH 1 is currently in stock at University of Hawaii and redistributors.

I was looking to get a copy of RTH 1 for the past 6 months (as of this date) and had no luck. Out of print from University of Hawaii Press, Amazon, etc. I even called U'Hawaii Press and asked them about the book and they responded with a, "It looks like it'll be in stock in the coming weeks", to which I didn't believe. You can imagine my chagrin when I randomly checked U'Hawaii Press's page for RTH 1 a few weeks later and the button for "Add to Wishlist" had changed to "Add to Cart". Amazon's page for RTH 1 had a "In stock April 1".

Get it while the getting is good... I guess?

Amazon seems to have it back in stock, or at least they expect to soon -- you can once again buy it new from them for $29, although they say it usually ships in 2-4 weeks.

Hopefully this means that the book isn't out of print, which I had feared too.
