Hanzi IME (in OS X)

#1
Hi, a very small question!

I'm not good with Chinese yet but I am a member of various social sites in Chinese.

When I use the IME in Mac OS X, how do I type a character that's not showing up in the list?

E.g. I want to type 玥 (yuè) but when I type "yue" in the "Pinyin - Simplified" IME, it doesn't show up among the 18 Hanzi choices.

How do I do it?

Thanks!

玥 isn't recognized with the handwriting recognition on the iphone either.

But if you switch over to traditional it will show up.

It's possible that the hanzi is not in use in PRC modern Chinese.

I'm going to try it right now and see:

玥 Yep, only traditional. Smile

Have a nice day!

My simplified IME has it... 玥.

Hmm...

Well, it's not in my simplified, it might well be in the traditional but I can't see it in there. It's not a problem because I can paste it from the Internet if I need it. Anyway, I think it will all be easier when I'm more proficient. Certainly typing kanji has got easier, though it's not always ideal.

Thanks for your assistance! I'm going to work harder at Mandarin now.
