So I was talking with a cantonese girl from hong kong, and as we know 劃 (trad) = 划 (simp)
EVEN THOUGH! she said they use this character: 劃 but when it was "row a boat" it was 划船........ what's the deal with them using simplified characters?
what about 鬍 vs 胡.... they should be equivalents, but also those seem to be both used.....
cheers for anyone's input!

what about this?
sometimes I see 繁体 and sometimes 繁體, but like in a situation as picking a language in lang-8 it says: 中文(繁体) but isn't that insulting for those who don't even use simplified, and still have to pick their language through simplified characters?

Ive noticed this so far with
板 and 闆
and 什 and 甚 . One book I'm studying off says 甚 is the traditional form for 什麼
but clearly it isn't lol. 什 seems to be used 99% of the time, but maybe 甚 is used in other instances, I don't know yet.
And as for what you said in the above post, I think that's just a typo. I work with windows and mac os at work and whenever I go into the language settings, you see it as the proper way.
But yes all this bs is It's actually quite annoying and makes reading a little harder for me, it makes Chinese step up in inconsistency, but it won't be as bad as Japanese.

I thought 板 and 闆 have different meanings. I didn't know they were interchangeable before. Thanks.
什麼 甚麼 is interchangeable for some reason, so is 了解 and 僚解. So far I have not encountered a lot, but I think most of them can be inferred or something.
