Chinese DVD shop inside Beijing Airport/in the neighbourhood?

#1
A very good friend of mine is coming to japan within 1 week and on her way she stops at beijing airport for 4 hours . As I intend to start chinese by september I thought it would be a good occasion to stock ammunitions . It would save me the service/transport fee .
So what s the best way to get as much DVD as possible within 4 fours ? A good DVD shop close or , even better, inside the Beijing Airport ? not necessarly a DVD shop maybe a duty free shop selling magazine and DVD ? I know for sure that tsutaya has a shop at narita so there must be a chinese counterpart at beijing
She doesn t mind doing some shopping for me but she doesn t speak a single word of chinese and she doesn t want to miss her fly so the closer the better .

BTW I sent her a list of western movies I wanted dubbed in chinese but I learned it first hand with japanese that dub is fine on short term but a dead end on long term ,so any advice of chinese mandarin movie (red cliff , infernal affairs , all the johnnie to, john woo , ringo lamm ,all the HK movie school is in cantonese correct if I m wrong ?)?

You might as well just download movies because chances are that anything she buys for you will be bootleg anyways. A bit of googling should find you a Chinese torrent forum.

Hum good point....
you mean website like BTcomic ? I just know this one and half of the time there is something going wrong...Lately I can t login or even register a new account (some crap about the login page not present on the server anymore) it s thanks to it that I got my J-J dictionnary though...So I m grateful but it doesn t seem very reliable for my futur plans.

And as China is in a shareware version of democracy where the Web is controlled as much as possible I just came to the conclusion that there wasn t a real chinese torrent website .Even though I have a good chinese friend he never told me anything about any chinese torrent website (while he gave me plenty of links for japanese ressources on chinese forum) . It s true that I never displayed interest before though Big Grin

Any insight on either of those point ?

From memory there's at least one bookshop and also a propaganda-only bookshop. the bookshop has got some quite interesting English language books about Kanji / Chinese and Chinese culture. The propaganda shop is pure comedy and I would recommend buying something from there for pure WTF/wow! value. The airport is pretty vast but there's just enough shops there and the transfer procedure is a bit of a Chinese fire drill, but everyone's pretty helpful.
Also, everything is legit in the airport, no knockoff anything there to spoil the image.

I kind of want one of those little red propaganda books that Chinese people get with the writings of Mao or whatever in them...
