Asking for an email with password reset instructions doesn't seem to work.

Can we keep the same colour scheme at least? I like the low key colours here, it's very easy on the eyes.

I tried signing in but I can't remember which of the hundreds of passwords I have that I decided to use here, so I went to recovery.
My email over here seems to be set properly.

There is only one user registered with your email , both here and on the converted forum I linked above. I tested the Lost Password functionality with an old account on the converted MyBB forum, and it worked.
What recovery do you mean? On the preview forum, you would click "Login" at the top, and then the "Lost password" link in the popup. Enter your email, and you should receive an email with a link to follow. Following that you get an email with a new password, that you use to login.

I agree with ktcgx. Keep the beige/tan color scheme.

@rainmaninjapan : the basic color scheme has been ported over (hit F5 in browser if it's still white). Still a lot of work to do on the layout.
@jmignot : I'll see if I can find a similar plugin.

Usually, when I check the forum I jump ahead on "show new posts" to see if there's anything new.
Having it on the index page already seems a good idea to me.

Perhaps a brief description of each topic in the "Categories" column (as it appeared in the current version of the index page) is a more useful piece of information than the number of posts.
An alternative way would be to display it as a popup when one hovers with the mouse over the category name.

Makes sense although I need to use a super tiny 10px font and also shorten some of the descriptions to fit it in.
That said I didn't design the "forum view" page yet (essentially filtering the index page by category). The description is also show at top of each forum's thread list, as it is here, and I could make it more prominent this time.

The layout of the index page now looks convenient, although its general aspect is a little dull to my taste (but I am no good at this and would not attempt to make any suggestion).
What seems to be missing is the options "Show your posts" / "show your subscribed topics", etc., which I frequently used.
In fact I do not quite understand the need for the "view new posts" link at the top of the page, since new posts are already displayed. Could not the content of the "Recent topics" part of the index page be simply updated to display whatever is selected in a dropdown menu acting as a filter?
Adding "All categories" as an extra option in the left column would allow one to navigate within the forum while always keeping the possibility to restrict the display to "My posts" (better than "your" posts?), "my subscribed topics", etc.

All kinds of things can be implemented , but my goal was just to upgrade the forum to a better plaftorm.
I already took on far too much work with this forum upgrade. I just wanted to try this idea with the forum index. I guess as long as nobody as telling me it sucks, it's working.
What I really want to know, is if it's *worse* than the current forum, then I want to fix those issues.
Otherwise, whether it is MyBB, phpBB, all kinds of forums have their quirks and I'm not going to rewrite a forum platform. I'd really like to get back to Kanji Koohii >_>
You can get a list of your posts, subbed threads, subbed forums. I will probably add shortcuts for those but since barely anybody bothers with giving feedback while the "preview" forum is up, I'll just move over the forum as soon as I have some basic responsive styles for mobile.
