リトル・フォレスト

Man, so following up on my last post about fluentu, I just stumbled upon a preview to what looks like a lovely little movie: リトル・フォレスト. You can see the preview here:

Is there any where where you can get entire Japanese movies with subtitles like fluentu has? I.e. both languages, where you can turn them on and off at will? I think it would be so nice to watch this entire movie like that. In addition to being enjoyable, it would probably be great for my language skill.

Hey, there!

I had the same question for some years. All I could find were exerpts on youtube or some free nico nico videos.
But recently something great happened! Netflix finally has released in Japan!
It means you can finally watch a lot of western japanese dubbed movies and watch japanese movies with japanese subs.

All you have to do is google up a way to access jp content outside Japan. ( piece of cake! :p )

There is more info here: http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?tid=12987

I don't think there is much English subtitling though, if that is your thing. But, you can watch a program in its native language and then rewatch in Japanese, for example.

I don't know about prepackaged dual language subtitles but there are ways to watch like that if you're willing to do a little work.

I've only used sabuchan, which is an iphone app that loads a movie and 2 subtitles. If you want to turn one off, you could direct it to a dummy subtitle file. It's 3 clicks to turn off/on a subtitle like that, so it's not realitime, but it's takes 2 seconds. Sabu has a nice looping function where it'll loop a dialog line over and over, so you can practice listening to a particularly hard section if you need to. You can also control pausing and looping from the remote built into the iphone headphones.

I've read of other ways to display dual subtitles on a desktop, but haven't used any of them.
