Hello there.

I have a question regarding burying in one of my decks. After a session with one of my decks I get a "Unbury" button appearing next to "Custom Study". When I click on it seemingly nothing happens; no new reviews show up, nothing seems to get un-buried making me wonder what exactly got buried in the first place.

Can someone explain this further to me? I've read the section on burying and so on, on the official Anki-guide, but there wasn't any help for this problem from what I gathered.

The settings for the deck are:

New Cards:

Steps in minutes: 1 10

Order: Show new cards in order added

New cards/day: 10

Grad interv: 1 day(s)

Easy interv: 2 days

Starting ease: 200 %

Bury related new cards until next day: *CHECKED*

Reviews:

Maximum reviews/day: 40

Easy bonus: 120 %

Interval modifier: 100 %

Maximum interval: 36500

Bury related reviews until next day: *CHECKED*

Note that seemingy nothing happens (the problem I'm asking about) when I have "...finished this deck for now".

Hm, the manual says sibling reviews should show up when you unbury, maybe you just didn't have any that cession and the program asked anyway? (I'm not familiar with this function)

At any rate if you don't want burying to happen, uncheck the box and the problem is solved.

What I am suspecting is that nothing shows up because I have already gotten the 10 new cards (which is the daily maximum) so that I can't study any more cards (but that Anki still asks me to unbury the cards it initially did bury before I met the days limit).

I am actually very fine with how the cards appear, that I do not get cards with the same notes on the same sessions. The "Unbury" button that had no effect confused me though.

EDIT: Adding that I am not sure whether my hypothesis is precise.

But if you always unbury at the end, logically you should have siblings cards during your next cession at some point, have you noticed anything like that? I guess you could remove you review limit and try to find out.

Is having a review limit all that useful btw? Never had one so I'm not sure how that plays out.

Of course I get the sibling cards at the next session, that's the function of the cards getting buried.

Buried cards are hidden from review until the clock rolls over to a new day or you manually unbury them using the “Unbury” button....

But when I unbury them nothing shows up. I will also look further into the deck settings.

I always click "Unbury" when I have reviewed everything and it says that I have "finished [the] deck for now". I have yet to click "Unbury" when my deck still hasn't been finished (i.e. when my daily limit hasn't been reached).

I mean if you unbury all the time, it's like if the bury function is disabled and you should have siblings cards together at some point.

No, that's not gonna happen... since I have the "Bury"-settings checked :|

I appreciate you helping me out with this, EratiK Smile

So what are you trying to do? Once you hit your limit, nothing is going to happen until you increase the limit (or the next day rolls around, but that's when the cards get automatically unburied anyway...)

I was curious what unburying did, and got suprised when I noticed it did nothing when I had completed a deck (there's an implication here that Anki shouldn't ask me to "Unbury" when doing so does nothing/ has no function).

When I read what it says further... "Some related or buried cards were delayed until a later session. To see them now, click the Unbury button below."...

EDIT: I just updated Anki. Now reviews shows up Smile

EDIT: But after reviewing those cards it told me to "Unbury" again... and nothing happened... I guess I just don't really have to press this button. Could be fine to have an "Show Unbury button"-option, or at least have it say "There may be cards buried... Smile
