Load balancer (Anki plugin)

#1
some time ago Erlog kindly suggested to me this useful plugin for Anki, Load balancer.

Now I have some cards I want to study but they are really cards I already know, so there is no need for them to strictly follow the anki alghorithm, as long as they stay within the month for they first review.

I have this review situation:

all I want is that the new cards fill the days without many reviews (colored in pink by me) and not to go to increase the reviews for the days where I have already many reviews (those damn peaks).

Someone know if this can be done automatically with the plugin Load balancer?

The plugin settings looks like this:

Context: jake` is the load balancer plugin author
Code:
[16:37:58] <Flamerokz> jake`: http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?tid=12663
[21:23:31] <@jake`> Flamerokz: man every day I regret giving people options for the load balancer
[21:23:45] <@jake`> it is almost like I understand the GNOME people
[21:31:18] <@jake`> well time to get back to figuring out vim stuff
[21:49:04] <Flamerokz> so is that like a 'no'
[21:50:32] <erlog> super weird that I get mentioned on that forum still

Since Flamerokz isn't going to help you then I guess I will.

Do a search in the Anki browser like "prop:due=5" or "prop:due=10" to get the list of cards due on the days with spikes. Highlight the number of them that you want to reschedule, and then choose "Reschedule" from the Edit menu. There you can put in a time interval of 3 days or a month or something, and then Anki will modify their due date to be somewhere within that interval.

So if you want to spread some of the reviews out from day 5 then highlight the day 5 cards you want to spread out, and then put in something like 3-6 for the interval. This will space those cards out anywhere between 3 days from now and 6 days from now, and it will do it fairly evenly due to the way load balancer functions.

I believe the way load balancer works is that it wraps the way scheduling works in Anki overall. So it even affects the Reschedule option in the edit menu.

Then you can do the same thing with the spike at day 10, and put in a range of 8-12 days or something to spread those cards out to the surrounding days. It shouldn't take much work to smooth it out.

Posting to note that erlog is salty that I included him in the chatlog.
Also I don't use the plugin so asking the author was like the next best thing.

Erlog, sorry if I mentioned you, it's only because you suggested it to me!

Thank you flqmerokz for the detailed explanation, think it will be very useful to me!

PS:
Well, there is a little difference between vim and his plugin: vim has a great documentation and if you experiment with vim you don't risk to mess up with your anki reps, so Smile

As far as I am aware, that plugin works by adjusting the new due date after a review. Going from the settings screenshot, if you pressed Easy and that card would normally land on the 20th the plugin will try to move it to the best day within a range of -6/-1 to +1/4 days (14th/19th - 21st/24th).

If the cards you are about to review are all 'known' (to an extent), I would adjust "Max Time After" to something like 30. This will let the plugin place a passed card up to 30 days further than normal, and should cover what you want.

I am not sure what the percentage options do.

I think that's how it works too. The load balancing plugin should affect any event that requires a new 'due date'.

No problem mentioning me. Flamerokz doesn't know what he's talking about. I wasn't salty.

It's just that I don't post a lot, and so I'm always shocked anybody remembers me.

It's prob. the kanken thread that does it. 2級 isn't something to be scoffed at.
