I'm on a (seemingly never ending) quest to find Japanese equivalents to my favorite TV shows, such as "How It's Made", "How Do They Do It", "Build It Bigger", and other shows about technology and history (especially regarding war and technology). In my quest, I have found and interesting series that mostly fits the 'How It's Made' slot (it's sadly lacking vocal narration... and "robutt"s (is that a Canadian thing? Though, I only recall hearing the "How It's Made" narrator say 'robot' that way... Personal quirk, perhaps?)).

Anyway, here it is: "The Making":

That whole channel has a lot of stuff (they have a website too, though I haven't explored it yet), and I've yet to see more than a few videos.

Any links to similar content are welcome. Or documentary titles. There's something about these shows that make them extremely easy to watch over and over again. If I could just watch/listen to such things in Japanese...

As much as I like this kind of stuff, I figured someone else would like them.

All those manjuu getting eye-holes burned into their faces... Terrifying.

As for why there is no narration, it probably just costs too much (why pay someone to read a script when you can just put it on the screen). Considering the irregularity of the subtitles, they probably had a relatively small budget for the show (which is understandable); it's much more in depth than similar shows, though, which is really nice.
Anyway, it'd be nice if it was there from a study perspective and because I'm quite near-sighted.
Somehow, I feel as though I missed something in your post, but it's hard to tell at times.
