I have a question,

While I am studying Kanji ( in a sense ) the -right- way .. I have a question about the Core 10k Deck and a possible study method...

What harm or benefits are there with just casually looking at 10,000 sentences? Here is my idea and theory...

If I genuinely look at every sentence that comes my way... sound out every word in my head and then look at the defeinition if need be... can't I just click the success button and move on? I know for sure I would not remember everything I saw that day but over the course of.. I dont know... 6 months for doing the core 10k I will look at each sentence at LEAST 10+ times minimum so what would be the sense in reviewing the card again if I mess it up when.. in theory.. I will see the card 10 times again in my deck lifetime.... the core 10k is 10,000 flashcards that.... on a worse case scenario I saw each card 4 times... thats 40,000 flashcards.. Im SURE that i would learn SOMETHING in japanese... clicking a button 40,000 times, hearing the audio and looking at the words.. would there really be any sense on reviewing the sentences when I could just naturally look at them?

I only used the sentence when I wasn't sure of what the word actually meant.
Other than that I did what I think you are describing and just hit the success button when I read the word in my head.

It worked for me, but whether it works for you or not might be different.

One problem is that eventually you end up being able to recognize the target word without even getting to it, due to familiarity with the sentences, which doesn't really help recognition.
However, with words that have multiple meanings and/or readings (ex: yameru vs tomeru, funbetsu vs bunbetsu) I don't really know if there's a better solution.

I experience that quite often. Does anyone know of a trick to circumvent this?

I use a production card with a unique memorable image to help with those cases. It helps if the images can kind of highlight the differences but it doesn't really matter as much as the image being unique.

You can use google image search, tumblr, look through scenes of your favorite shows movies or games, etc..

there are a lot of ways to use the deck, you can rearrange the information as you see fit.
I personally prefer a question the was the kanji word, where i had to guess the reading and meaning.
but i didn't want to see english in the card...so on the answer section I put the word in hiragana, and the example sentence in japanese instead of the english definition.
obviously you sometimes want the english, so using some html in the card design, i had it in a white font that turned black on mouseover.
