Actually I'm using japanese words in my production deck, in addition to a recognition deck (mainly for kanji readings and recognition in general).

I feel this approach is the best for me, but someway I feel there is something wrong in what I'm doing :/

For example this kanji 領 has the keyword "jurisdiction" while as a japanese word I'm using "大統領" which means president.

For those as me who use japanese keywords, how do you adjusted the story to match the new prompt?

Also, as a question I'm using something like this:

大統＿ だいとうりょう president (of a country)

in other words I put the english meaning too, mainly to help me with words with similar readings, for example:

(状)況[じょうきょう][state of affairs, conditions];
(条)件[じょうけん][condition, term];

does this defeat the purpose of using japanese keywords?

Well, a kanji doesn't just have one meaning, and the keywords that Heisig assigns them aren't even necessarily the most common meaning. So you can't really expect the keyword to make sense in every kanji compound that you come across.
I don't really see the issue with this particular one though. I mean, the president has jurisdiction over the whole country, right? You can't really get much more jurisdiction than that!
Though according to rikaichan, this kanji can also mean territory. Which also makes a lot of sense, as the president is presiding over the whole territory (country).

But maybe I completely misunderstood what you were trying to ask. Yea, actually I think I did.

Well it depends: if you know all the Japanese example words you use by heart, English would be a distraction; but if it's not the case, the English meaning allows you to not waste time trying to remember what word means what since you are testing kanji production and not vocab recognition (and a good i+1 deck shouldn't test two things at once).

Exactly ._. as I have both recognition and production decks, and production takes so much time, I wonder what is the best way to review production to make it both fast to review and effective in terms of kanji production. Also considering I'm not interested at all in actual writing and I'm doing production only to cement more the kanji in my memory. I'm tempted to drop the production deck and spend the time with vocabs and actual reading but I fear my kanji recognition would be affected negatively by it ._.
