Time for a new donation run for Fabrice!

#1
Finally I can use Paypal, and I want to celebrate it by having my very first Paypal transfer to be a long due donation to Fabrice, as a way to express my deep thanks to him for building and maintaining this wonderful site, which has made such a huge difference in the studies of so many people.

This reminds me it's already time for a new donation drive, since it's been a while since the last one.

It seems people get more motivated to drive when there's a deadline and a challenge, so what about this?

If people gather 450 USD before the end of the month, I'll add 50 USD to complete 500. If people gather 950 USD before the end of the month, I'll add another 50 USD to reach the nice number of 1000 USD.

Of course, if anyone wants to add their own challenges, you're welcome to do so (for example: "I'll donate X amount if people gather this much money in a week", or something like that).

The donation page is here: http://kanji.koohii.com/about/support

To help with the challenge, please make a donation and comment here to add your amount to the total. If you prefer to keep it private, you can send me a private message and I'll add it without using your name.

First count:

Date: March 13 (18 days to go)
Donations: 0 USD

Be the first one to donate and let's get this started.

It's time to say thank you to Fabrice!

Hey people, what happened to the rest?

People, think of all the value you've got out of both the main site and this forum.

If we donated just half a cent for each kanji we've learned thanks to Reviewing the Kanji, each person who has finished RTK 1 would donate 10 USD. Think of all the times you spend more than that in snacks, or coffee, or a soda, even only in the course of a month. It doesn't even have to be a big donation, every penny counts.

Come on people, we can do better!

Thank you for the support Smile I'm in a kind of motivational slump for a couple weeks now and when people donate it's very meaningful to me.

Donated €14, as thats about £10.

I probably spend more than that a week on sandwiches at work, and I've used the site every day for a few years now, even if I never post much, so it's about time I gave something back.

Fabrice, whenever you feel demotivated, remember this site and this community, how good you are at what you do here, and how your work helps and inspires people around the world.

About donations, I'm sure people would donate more often if they were gently nudged once in a while.

How many kanji have you learned thanks to Reviewing the Kanji?

It's time to give something back.

Donated 10 euros even though I don't personally use the main site, but props to Fabrice for dealing with all the forum personalities and hosting an area where we can share study resources and (sometimes) hold interesting discussion. Take care of yourself!

Also props to Sebastian for pushing the donation run.

Thank you Flamerokz!

People, don't be shy.

If it wasn't for this site, I'd never get to know the awesome stories you create and share, including but not limited to those using Spiderman, Mr. T, Chuck Norris, Darth Vader and so many others.

This site offers so much more than so many expensive resources.

I hope more people continue donating every month.

Hello,

First time poster, but I have been using this site for a few months already. Thank you for this site and great work updating to the 6th edition, this really simplified my workflow! I also made a small donation.

Made a modest donation too.

Thank you for providing such a brilliant service, as well as keeping the forum going, Fabrice! (It's been a two years since I used the main site, but I still remember quite a few of the stories and characters from the world of kanji)

Thank you to have reminded me that this great forum doesn't magically maintain itself by its own, and that we must not give it for granted. Sometimes we don't recognize the importance of things until we lost them.
Well, I don't want to ever lost this community so here is my little contribution too :3

Signed up for a monthly donation, and will kick in a little more next month as well. It's the least I can do after nearly three years of membership.

Thanks for this forum, Fabrice, and for all the work you've done on RtK.

Thank you gaiaslastlaugh, cophnia61, Stian and SellingTokyo, I hope your donations are a nice remainder to Fabrice of how his work is appreciated.

As gaiaslastlaugh points out, people can also suscribe for monthly donations, which even if small in amount, give Fabrice a steady income which is a great way to give something back for all we take from his work.

Thanks for reminding me to donate, I chipped in 20€. For some reason I'm just generally really stingy online and the idea of donating hasn't occurred to me yet. This is probably the byproduct of free or 1$ apps which have heavily distorted my perception of 'appropriate' software prices, but that's another story.

Anyways, I've gotten lots of valuable information from the forum and its generous users. So even though I haven't used the kanji reviewing functionality, I am very grateful for the effort to host and maintain such a helpful community. I'm sure there are many mundane and boring issues that have to be taken care of in the background, so thanks a lot for that. And even though the donation is headed to Fabrice, I also want to collectively thank the strong community we have here.

Thank you FaultyMaxim and hyvel!

As hyvel points out, even if you don't use the main site for your reviews, all the info available, and the great community that has formed here wouldn't exist without Reviewing the Kanji, and without Fabrice's hard work.

How would have been your learning without this site and community? Mine certainly wouldn't have been the same.
