Hello,
I'm new here in the community (recently registered), but I'm follower since long time...
Being said that, I want to tell you about an app for android I'm developing these days. It's almost done, but I need to do debugging a little more and finishing the unimplemented features still, and the translations in English. It's an app for Spanish/ English speakers.
The features it'll have in the final release are:
- Window movable/ resizable seemed to "Rikaichan/kun" for Firefox/ Chrome. With this window allways on top, you can select text in Japanese and read the definition, conjugation, etc. Pretty similar to "Rikaichan" as I told. You can pick up text from ANY app and analyze in the window.
- Text analyzer. The core piece of the app. You can paste large texts in Japanese and tell to the app to colorize the words depending on the type: for example, verb roots appear blue while particles are magenta, etc. Of course, you can see the FURIGANA on the top of all words if you want, as well as consult definitions, conjugations, etc.
I use to use this feature to read large Japanese texts, while I can clearly distinguish between the type of words that are colorized, and read the furigana if I don't recognize any kanji. I love this feature.
- Dictionary Jap --> Eng. I've improved this feature including information like word's JLPT level, frequency usage, etc. If it's a verb, you can consult the conjugations too, as well as many example sentences despite the word type.
The possibility of perform searches by kana order, frequency usage, etc. is implemented. Very useful if you make searches for words "contains" (ie: 日本--> 我が日本、日本一、日本円。。。) with hundreds of results.
Of course, the kanji information of the word can be seen too. As well as many other sections.
- Dictionary Eng --> Jap. I've implemented a well database that tell us well translations in Japanese.
- List of vocabulary favorites. You can collect words searched through the dictionary, and classify it in lists. For example, you can create a list of words for adjectives and collect there the adjectives you want; you can create a list of words for verbs, expressions, etc. Whatever you want.
- THE MOST IMPORTANT: all features are available with no internet connection needed.
