I'm thinking about getting some plaintiff to practice my calligraphy. I could ask a japanese friend to buy me a cheap notebook, or I could create a plaintiff and print some copies (it's just paper with some squares, anyways).
I don't know which method is cheaper, but just in case it's better to print/copy the pages myself, I wonder if there's already free-available plaintiffs that you could suggest me. Thank you. =D

I'm not certain I know what you're looking for (I'm not familiar with the word "plaintiff" in this context). If it's blank graph paper templates you're after, then the site below offers free pdf of various styles. Here is the template generator for Japanese characters. I've also never heard the word plaintiff in this context. Curious, I searched the internet and the Oxford English Dictionary and found nothing related to stationary or calligraphy. Perhaps it's a mistranslation or some sort of slang used in a small circle.

Oops! I meant template. I wasn't thinking and mistranslated the spanish word "plantilla" (which can mean both "pattern" and "staff of people"). Sorry for the confusion. m(._.)m

Plantilla sounds like it should be fighting Mothra or something

I printed up a big stack of these and took them to my local Staples store and had them put a pair of stiff cardboard covers and a spiral binding on it. $4 total, and now I've got a custom notebook of Kanji practice paper.

I'm using a notebook with a bisected grid at the moment (same layout as this: https://www.showa-note.co.jp/product/jap...e/jl-17-1/) but I wonder if using a grid divided into thirds like this http://incompetech.com/graphpaper/chinesesquare/ would be better, as a major problem when writing for me is making parts too big that should only take up a third.

Well, yeah. I first tried the links in the sticky thread of this subforum, and then did a search for plaintiff on the entire forum with no results.
