Now I finally know what the ピーン、ポーン sound is!

So when I was looking up the mp3 of the door closing stuff, I found this article:

I've always wondered what the ピーン、ポーン sound at Japanese train stations is. Now I know. It's a guide sound for the visually impaired. I had heard that before, but only as speculation from tourists. Nobody had ever pointed to a video of the actual box making the noise. (It's about halfway down the page of this article.)

The sound itself was never really annoying to me... not knowing what it MEANT was annoying to me.

Whew! Now I can sleep again. Big Grin

You know, I used to hear it all the time too, but I never really 'noticed' it, if you know what I mean. But hey, the more you know, right? Smile
