Found this today on reddit. Looks like it is a series that is aired on NHK World? "Hosted by Peter Barakan, this program explores many aspects of Japan, both traditional and contemporary: arts, sports, entertainment, food, technology, nature, etc."

ah damn it's in English... might have been interesting to me a year ago when I didn't know any Japanese yet.
Who would have thought that watching stuff gets harder once you know the language? You even have to take care in order not to accidentally get stuck with hardsubs -.-
