Just when I was getting inspired.
This.
But seriously, it's not like you have to do it pedal to the metal and set a new land speed record. What's wrong with making your goal more realistic and adding a few per day? 5 cards per day would be something like a ~15 minute investment. Surely you can scrape together 15 minutes.. and you'd learn the kanji without barely even noticing it.
In the end I took a week off from Kanji for life sorting, and then resumed at 1/3rd the pace. I ended up finishing the RTK Lite before the JLPT, but then I didn't even go to sit for the test. In the end, I wouldn't be afraid to make another journal thread about my other memorizing challenges. Even though I failed my own challenge, I memorized a lot of Kanji more quickly than I would have. And even though I automatically failed the JLPT N2, it wasn't wasted money because it actually got me to commit to learn the Kanji required for the test.
@JapaneseRuleOf7 I need inspiration too, next time let's start a competitive challenge to learn the rest of the kanji/vocab.
@Sauzer @Sholum Thanks! This little suggestion in the end helped me limp to the finish line.
@yogert909 ditto on the inspiration. PM if you ever want to collaborate. You're definitely right that a moderate workload is the easiest way to overcome something over a long period of time. I feel like there's always that added constant of commitment that I personally need. I probably wouldn't have even started seriously studying the Kanji if I promised to do the bare minimum daily. Guess it's a personal issue for me.
