Physical Paper Cloze Deletion

#1
I seem to recall seeing this in the past, but I'm looking for some tool where you can manually highlight something on physical paper and then put a sheet over it and it hides the highlighted area. It's kind of like a cloze deletion method but only manual.

My Google skills are not up to snuff on this one as I can't for the life of me find this. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? :-) Thanks!

I don't know what its called but its used a lot in Japan.

The paper has the words that you want to Cloze in red and the rest in black. You get a red translucent piece of plastic and put it over the paper and the words disappear.

Yeah I remember seeing that it was used in Japan a lot. I figured the text itself had to be written in the color, but I recalled being able to highlight and have the text disappear as well. This doesn't seem like it would be possible when just thinking about it but I thought I would ask anyway!

What you're looking for is called 暗記ペン. There are products with different names too, like Check Set or Memory Line.

If you can't get those in the US, I've seen people using colored gels from a photographic supply store. I believe you would use a gel that's the compliment of the color ink that you want to obscure.
