EratiK Wrote:I'd recommend ta12121 to take a literature course of some sort (at a uni preferably). Not a writing workshop (in my personnal experience workshops suck). It's when I started to write literature essays over and over that I really developed my writing skills; you know, planification, text setting... (Hayes & Flower 80)I still have to take one more English Course next year. And I know it deals with a lot of writing. So more practice for me

Ta, i'd recommend that rather than reading up about grammar and trying to actively correct your grammar by learning rules, you just practice writing a lot. Blogs, forums, facebook, emails and so on can provide you with plenty of opportunities for this. Reread what you write and ask yourself if it flows nicely and reflect on whether stylistically it resembles the type of writing you are aiming for. For example if you're writing an academic paper, are you using the kind of language that is standard in the academic sphere? In other words it not really a grammar issue, just learn to be mindful of your intended audience and try adopt a style that is standard for that type of writing. Also do some research on common 'grammar mistakes' (there/they're/their, your/you're, affect/effect etc) because there are a lot of people who are overly anal about these things and will judge you unfairly as a result.

I'm more interested in forum users age than if ta likes to read grammar on his spare time or not. Perhaps we should stick to the topic?

21 from 11th of April.
1775 frame, 5 months, with a month break. I feel bad about the slow pace i had, i can easily add 50-100 frames each day now, even with exams the next day.
What i did wrong, was having too much fun stuff next to my reviews. I'm going to block sites like youtube etc., and no more games on my pc. This is the main reason why i didn't finish RTK1 in under 2 months.
I wouldn't ever thought, that this thread would make me feel so much better upon reading some posts here, and here i thought that im kinda late with learning language. A big kick for my motivation, thanks for this ;d

Since it is up at the moment ... I might as well add my age to the list. 33, soon to be turning 34, meaning in 7 days.

17 years old "waves"
currently on frame 1183 and started exactly 1 months ago, I've varied my studies, started out with 30+ a day for a week, then for three weeks did 50+ a day, now took a couple days to solidify the first thousand kanji's I know. Now I'm getting back into things slowly with 20+ a day.
